As part of market management measures, on August 26 and 27, Team 5 of the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department conducted surprise inspections at four gold businesses in District 5.

During the inspections, the businesses presented their certificates of registration as required. Initially, the inspection team discovered that a number of gold jewelry products were being sold without clear information on their origin and lacked proper invoices and documents.

Consequently, the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department seized 11 units of gold necklaces, valued at over 130 million VND, which lacked proper documentation and had unclear origins. The inspection team has drawn up a report and is in the process of clarifying the situation and handling the case in accordance with the law.

In the first seven months of the year, the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department inspected and confiscated nearly 1,600 gold and jewelry products worth over 14.2 billion VND. Almost 200 cases of violations were handled, mostly related to gold jewelry with unclear origins and counterfeit brands. The authorities also monitored gold sales on social networks and handled several violations.

Moving forward, Team 5 will continue to deploy forces to simultaneously inspect gold trading enterprises in the district to help stabilize the gold market, especially in the context of rising gold prices.

These actions are in line with the directives of the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department, as per the Prime Minister’s Official Dispatch No. 23/CD-TTg on strengthening market management measures for gold.

They also fall under the regular activities of the team in the fight against counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin, and low-quality goods in the area.
