According to the Project Management Board, a large-scale construction site has been formed with the participation of hundreds of construction sites with over 6,000 personnel and 2,200 equipment; construction packages are being carried out day and night to ensure the project progress.
The construction packages currently being implemented on the site are closely monitored, controlled, and supervised to meet the technical standards of the project, ensuring quality and progress as required.
Specifically, Package No. 5.10, which involves the construction and installation of equipment for the passenger terminal building, commenced on August 31, 2023, and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026. The structure comprises one basement and three floors, with a total floor area of approximately 376,451 square meters.
The steel roof of the Long Thanh Airport passenger terminal in Package 5.10 has a total investment of over VND 36,000 billion.
To date, the passenger terminal has completed the entire reinforced concrete structure for columns, beams, and slabs of the first floor (114,060 square meters), second floor (96,173 square meters), and third floor (73,212 square meters). The construction of reinforced concrete beams and slabs for the fourth floor is in progress, with 25,150 square meters completed out of the planned 25,150 square meters. Notably, on August 22, 2024, the installation of steel structures for Wing 2 and Wing 3 was carried out as per the plan and contract schedule.
In parallel with the progress of the rough construction, the procurement and ordering of M&E equipment, terminal equipment, HBS systems, and vertical glass walls have been initiated with contracts signed with suppliers and manufacturers. The production and processing of components are underway as per the planned schedule. It is expected that the entire construction will be completed by December 2025, with the installation of the vertical façade completed by March 2026, alongside the completion and installation of equipment for trial operations from early 2026. The aim is to complete all items before August 31, 2026.

The Long Thanh Airport runway is expected to be completed and technically operational by April 30, 2025.
Currently, the construction progress of this package is on schedule, and the contractors are focusing their resources, equipment, and materials to meet the deadline for the technical operation of the runway by April 30, 2025. Technical equipment such as the ILS/DME Precision Landing Support System has been manufactured at the factory as of the end of January 2024 and is expected to be transported to Vietnam in October 2024 and installed in December 2024.
Meanwhile, Package No. 6.12 involves the construction and design drawing of the transportation system connecting Line 1 and Line 2.
Specifically, Package 6.12 includes Line 1 connecting to National Highway 51, with a length of approximately 4.28 km and a scale of 6 lanes, and Line 2 connecting to Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway, with a length of approximately 3.5 km and a scale of 4 lanes.
After more than a year of implementation, the total main construction volume up to now comprises: K95 earth filling for the road: 535,959 cubic meters out of 605,205 cubic meters, achieving 88.6%; K98 earth filling: 42,260 cubic meters out of 73,292 cubic meters, achieving 57.2%; stone grading construction: 44,685 cubic meters out of 123,545 cubic meters, achieving 36.2%; CDM piles: 100%; construction of underground pedestrian tunnels: 100%.
The Long Thanh Airport runway is expected to be completed and put into technical operation before April 30, 2025.
For the bridge section, D1500 bored piles achieved 97.9%; D1000 bored piles achieved 97.5%; construction of pier caps achieved 93.5%; construction of pier shafts achieved 92.0%… It is expected that the main items will be completed as follows: Construction of Line 1 will be completed in November 2025; construction of the intersection of Line 1 and Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway will be completed in August 2025; construction of the intersection of Line 2 and Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway will be completed in October 2025; completion of the project, handover, and commissioning will be completed in December 2025.
According to the Project Management Board, Package No. 4.7, which involves the construction and installation of equipment for the aircraft apron and passenger terminal, and other works; Package No. 4.8, which involves the construction and installation of equipment, and design drawing of internal port infrastructure and airport technical infrastructure; and Package No. 4.9, which involves the construction and installation of equipment for the aircraft fueling system, are currently undergoing bid evaluation in accordance with the law on bidding and with the close supervision of state management agencies. It is expected that the contractor selection process will be completed, and these packages will be commenced in September 2024, with construction completed before August 31, 2026.
