On September 3, the Criminal Police Department of Quang Nam Provincial Public Security said that it had just initiated a prosecution and arrested Lim Jian Wing (born 1997, Malaysian nationality) and Wang RuiJie (34 years old, Chinese nationality).
According to the case file, in the afternoon of July 24, 2024, the Criminal Police Department, in coordination with the Network Security Division, the Immigration Management Division, and the Hoian City Police, inspected, verified, and brought the suspects to the office after receiving information from a cellphone store in Hoian City about two foreigners who showed suspicious signs when buying cellphones at the store.

Initially, the two were identified as Lim Jian Wing and Wang RuiJie. They impersonated bank staff, called and asked for information, and then appropriated credit cards from Mr. P.D.T. (resident of Quang Ninh Province).
The two suspects used the appropriated credit cards to purchase two iPhone 15 Pro Max phones (worth nearly VND 70 million) with the intention of reselling them for cash. However, before they could succeed, they were caught and detained.
