A delegation of Thai journalists and members of the Thai Journalists Association (TJA) recently visited Hanoi and Vinh Phuc province. The Bangkok Post reported on the meeting with the leadership of the Vinh Phuc Province Journalists Association.
The Bangkok Post began its article with: “Vinh Phuc province is a major industrial hub for automobiles and electronics, just an hour’s drive from Hanoi and Noi Bai International Airport.”
“Vinh Phuc serves as a bridge between the northwestern provinces, Hanoi, and the Red River Delta,” said Mr. Nguyen Dinh Bang, Chairman of the Vinh Phuc Province Journalists Association, during the meeting.
Mr. Bang added that this province, with a population of over 1.1 million, plays a significant role in the economic development strategy of the region and Vietnam.
Currently, 19 countries and territories have invested in Vinh Phuc, with South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China, Singapore, Thailand, Italy, Samoa, Seychelles, the Netherlands, Sweden, the US, India, British Virgin Islands, Russia, Spain, Indonesia, France, and Germany leading the way.
“It would be beneficial for our Vinh Phuc industrial center to have more Thai entrepreneurs investing here. We are ready to welcome them,” Mr. Bang stated.
Mr. Bang discussed with the group of journalists how partner countries can emulate the model that has brought about rapid economic growth in Vinh Phuc to achieve similar positive results.
The provincial Journalists Association leader said that Vinh Phuc has quickly become a favored destination for domestic and foreign investors as the Vietnamese government promotes the locality as a new industrial park focusing on innovation in high-tech industries.
Mr. Bang also proposed a model for developing twin cities or sister city relationships with a suitable province in Thailand.
He requested the TJA Chairman to convey his message to the Thai government, hoping that a comparable Thai province could become a “sibling” to Vinh Phuc.
Mr. Bang also expressed his desire to see more Thai tourists in Vinh Phuc, enjoying the province’s abundant natural beauty and stunning mountains.
Vinh Phuc boasts a diverse and rich ecosystem with many attractive landscapes, such as Tam Dao, a mountain resort town.
Vinh Phuc promotes Tam Dao as an easily accessible destination for Thai tourists seeking tranquility, fresh air, a mild climate, and romantic scenery.
Vinh Phuc’s Plan for Producing Premium Vehicles
According to the Vinh Phuc Portal, Vinh Phuc province is located in the key economic region of Northern Vietnam, serving as the gateway to Hanoi and the bridge between the northwestern provinces and the Red River Delta. Therefore, the province plays a crucial role in the regional and national economic development strategy.
In 2022, the province’s population was 1,197,617. Vinh Phuc comprises nine administrative units: two cities (Vinh Yen and Phuc Yen) and seven districts (Tam Duong, Tam Dao, Yen Lac, Vinh Tuong, Lap Thach, Song Lo, and Binh Xuyen); 136 communes, wards, and towns.
At the beginning of 2024, the Prime Minister approved the planning of Vinh Phuc province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision towards 2050, setting the goal of the province achieving first-class city criteria in six years, as a precursor to becoming a centrally governed city.
By 2030, Vinh Phuc aims to be among the leading localities in the country in terms of GRDP growth per capita. The average growth rate from now until 2030 is expected to reach 10.5-11%/year, with a GRDP per capita of VND 325 million in 2030.
The vision for 2050 is for Vinh Phuc to be a centrally governed city with a modern, green, and beautiful infrastructure, a distinct identity, and a prosperous society. The province will strive for comprehensive development across all aspects, including the economy, society, and environment, ensuring a high quality of life and happiness for its residents.
Vinh Phuc will focus on developing premium car and motorcycle lines and producing components and spare parts for domestic and export markets. Mechanical engineering products serving industry and agriculture are also encouraged. The province also pays attention to developing other industries, such as electronics manufacturing, supporting industries, mechanical engineering, assembly, and metal production.
Currently, Vinh Phuc is home to factories of brands like Toyota and Honda, as well as businesses involved in the supply chains of electronics, automobile, and motorcycle industries.
