The Quiet Airport: Tan Son Nhat’s Unexpectedly Calm Holiday

On the final day of the 2/9 holiday, traffic at Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City saw a decrease compared to previous estimates. Unlike previous years, there was no sign of passenger congestion or traffic jams, with visitor numbers merely matching the daily average.

According to information from Tan Son Nhat International Airport, today (September 3rd), the airport expects to operate 679 flights with more than 110,000 passengers, including over 50,000 departing and 60,000 arriving passengers. This figure matches the average for a typical day.

Tan Son Nhat Airport did not experience any passenger congestion.

Compared to the previous plan of operating approximately 730 flights and serving 125,000 passengers on the peak day of September 3rd, the number of passengers at Tan Son Nhat decreased by about 15,000 on the last day of the holiday period.

As observed by Tien Phong journalists throughout the National Day holiday on September 2nd, Tan Son Nhat Airport operated smoothly, with no congestion or traffic jams.

Representatives of Tan Son Nhat Airport stated that the youth union members of Tan Son Nhat International Airport and the Vietnam Aviation Academy will assist passengers at the security screening area and the domestic terminal’s public hall during peak hours from 5 am to 9 am.

During the 2/9 holiday, Tan Son Nhat Airport was smooth and uncrowded, unlike previous years.

The airport has also coordinated with relevant units to develop plans to serve flights, especially those operating during nighttime hours, ensuring safety and efficient operations.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport also instructed units to ensure absolute security for flights, preventing any incidents of theft of passengers’ belongings by ill-intended individuals.

During this year’s holiday season, Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern region are expected to experience thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Tan Son Nhat International Airport will collaborate with the Aviation Meteorology Center to enhance weather monitoring and forecasting. Based on this information, the airport will proactively notify about weather conditions affecting flight operations, especially weather trends and adverse weather phenomena, to devise rational flight management and operation plans.
