Ho Chi Minh City’s Tourism Authority has released insights into the tourism situation during the National Day holiday in 2024.
An estimated 980,000 visitors were recorded at the city’s tourist attractions and entertainment spots, marking a 2% increase from the same period in 2023 (960,000 visitors).
Among these, domestic tourists accounted for approximately 425,000, reflecting a 1.2% rise compared to 2023 figures (420,000).
International visitor numbers stood at an estimated 38,800, indicating a 3.2% increase from the previous year (37,600 in 2023).
Accommodation facilities witnessed an estimated 214,630 guests, representing a significant 32.5% jump from 2023 (162,000). Occupancy rates climbed to around 85%, a 6.3% increase over the previous year (80%).
Tourism revenue is estimated to reach VND 2,940 billion, a 1.7% improvement from 2023’s VND 2,890 billion.
The tourism product, “Tour Program to Visit National-level Architectural and Artistic Relics – Headquarters of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City,” attracted 1,848 domestic and international visitors over two days.
The majority of tourists during this holiday were families, groups of young people, and middle-aged individuals who couldn’t plan a summer vacation. Most of them opted for domestic travel.
According to leading travel companies, with a four-day holiday period, most people preferred trips lasting 3-5 days. Domestic destinations like Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Nha Trang, Da Nang, the North, and the Central Highlands were popular choices. Nearby countries such as Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and China also attracted attention due to more affordable airfares.
Ho Chi Minh City’s tourist attractions and landmarks witnessed vibrant activities. The Cu Chi Tunnels historical site offered a 30% discount on entrance fees for group visitors (with certain conditions) and promotions for other services within the area. They also organized exhibitions of historical and cultural artifacts and performed traditional folk arts of the S’Tieng ethnic minority group.
The Saigon Skydeck – Bitexco Financial Tower offered free entry to the Vietnamese Ao Dai Museum. Suoi Tien Cultural Park gave away 2,000 free tickets for entertainment programs, circus performances, and a unique collection of fruit trees.
Dam Sen Cultural Park provided free admission for those celebrating their birthday on September 2 and a 50% discount for September birthdays. They also organized low-range fireworks displays and a series of artistic performances.
The Sky Garden commercial and culinary street in District 7 officially opened, featuring cultural and sports activities, handicraft art practices, culinary delights, and commercial programs with community engagement and performances by Korean and Vietnamese singers.
Additionally, accommodation facilities and standardized service providers exhibited positive developments, introducing promotions and discounts to cater to the needs of domestic and international tourists.
