On September 3, Tien Phong reporters observed that the Bach Dang 2 Bridge construction project, spanning the Dong Nai River and connecting Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces, had substantially completed its scopes of work.

At both ends of the bridge, the contractor had erected barricades along with signs stating, “Sorry, please turn back.” However, early in the morning, some pedestrians and motorbikes were still crossing the bridge.

Previously, on September 2, several media outlets and social media platforms shared information claiming that the Bach Dang 2 Bridge connecting Dong Nai and Binh Duong provinces had been officially opened to traffic. Subsequently, the investor, the Management Board of Traffic Infrastructure Construction Projects of Binh Duong province, had to issue a clarification, asserting that the bridge had not yet been authorized for traffic.

According to the investor, the project has substantially completed its scopes, and the contractor is expediting the remaining work, expected to be finished before September 20.

The investor’s representative stated that the Bach Dang 2 Bridge project is anticipated to be inaugurated and opened to traffic on the day Binh Duong province announces its 2021-2030 Planning Period, with a vision towards 2050. The exact date for this announcement has not yet been officially confirmed.

Regarding the passage of vehicles before the bridge’s official opening, a representative from the Management Board of Traffic Infrastructure Construction Projects of Binh Duong province explained that on the afternoon of September 1, during the construction process, the barricades at both ends of the bridge had to be temporarily removed to work on the bridge approach.

Unexpectedly, heavy rain halted the construction work that afternoon. On the morning of September 2, some individuals crossing the bridge to celebrate the holiday took it upon themselves to walk across. These pedestrians took photos and shared them on social media, creating a misconception that the bridge had been opened to traffic.

The Bach Dang 2 Bridge facilitates trade connections between Dong Nai and Binh Duong provinces and other provinces in the Southeast region, especially providing access to Long Thanh and Bien Hoa airports and the seaport system. With a total length of over 2.8 km, the bridge features a 410-meter-long, 17-meter-wide structure accommodating four lanes. The project’s total investment amounts to nearly VND 500 billion.

Previously, in late 2021, the Bach Dang 2 Bridge project commenced construction, initially planned for completion by the end of 2022. However, land clearance issues and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic caused delays in the project’s progress. Recognizing the project’s significance, the leadership of Binh Duong province conducted frequent inspections, swiftly addressed obstacles, and urged the involved parties to expedite the construction process.
