Here is a list of models that are likely to have hybrid engine options soon to be released in Vietnam.

Hyundai Santa Fe

According to dealer information, the new-generation Hyundai Santa Fe will be launched in the Vietnamese market in the second half of September. The seller said that this SUV will drop the diesel engine and only use a gasoline engine, and is likely to have a hybrid version but will be released later. This information has not been confirmed by Hyundai.

Comparing with the Philippine market, the new Santa Fe hybrid will use a 1.6L engine combined with an electric motor. The gasoline engine produces 177 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque. The electric motor has an output of 64 horsepower and 264 Nm of torque.

Toyota Camry

The new-generation Toyota Camry is also about to be launched in Vietnam by the end of this year. According to dealer information, the new Camry will have pure gasoline and hybrid engines, including two hybrid versions and only one gasoline version. This information has not been confirmed by Toyota.

In the US, the new Camry is only available with a 2.5L hybrid engine. However, this engine produces two different power outputs. The front-wheel-drive version (likely to be sold in Vietnam) has an output of 225 horsepower. The AWD version has an output of 232 horsepower. Currently, Camry also offers a 2.5L hybrid option.

Honda Civic

The upcoming Honda Civic 2024 in Vietnam is also expected to have a hybrid option. The dealer said that the most advanced Civic will be equipped with this hybrid engine. This information has not been confirmed by Honda.

The hybrid engine on the new Civic is likely to be the 2.0L type found in Thailand. This engine prioritizes the operation of the electric motor, unlike most hybrids in Vietnam that use the gasoline engine as the primary power source. Therefore, the electric motor produces an impressive 181 horsepower, while the gasoline engine produces 141 horsepower.

Kia Carnival

The 2024 Kia Carnival has been available for pre-order at dealerships and is expected to be launched in October. The seller said that this model may have a hybrid engine for the first time. This information has not been confirmed by Kia.

In Indonesia, the Carnival is also available in a hybrid version. This version uses a 1.6L turbocharged gasoline engine combined with an electric motor. The total engine output is 242 horsepower and 367 Nm of torque. This configuration is similar to the Sorento hybrid model.

Haval Jolion

The Haval Jolion is scheduled to be launched in Vietnam by the end of this year and will almost certainly have a hybrid version.

The hybrid engine on the Jolion is likely to be a 1.5L gasoline engine combined with an electric motor. The combined output of this engine is approximately 190 horsepower and 375 Nm of torque. The manufacturer affirms that the Jolion is the most powerful car in its segment.

Jaecoo J7

Another hybrid model coming to Vietnam by the end of the year is the Jaecoo J7. The highlight of this car is that it uses a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) engine.

The Jaecoo J7’s engine is a 1.5L engine combined with an electric motor, producing a total output of up to 347 horsepower and 525 Nm of torque. According to the manufacturer, when plugged in, the car can travel about 1,200 km with a full tank of gas and electricity. On pure electric power, the car can travel nearly 100 km.
