In the first eight months of 2024, Tay Ninh’s tourism sector is estimated to have attracted 3.9 million visitors, a 3.6% increase compared to the same period last year. Tourism revenue reached an estimated VND 2,145 billion, a significant 37.3% surge year-on-year, achieving 93.3% of the annual plan, according to Bao Tay Ninh.
Specifically, in August 2024, the number of tourists visiting Tay Ninh’s attractions is estimated at 276,500, a 17.7% year-on-year increase, while tourism revenue reached VND 158 billion, up 43.6% from the same period last year.
The province has also been actively expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation in various fields. So far, Tay Ninh has established bilateral relations with six foreign provinces and cities, including two cooperation agreements with localities in South Korea and four with Cambodian provinces.
The development of the tourism industry has positively impacted Tay Ninh’s economy, contributing to increased state budget revenues, job creation, and urban development.
To establish tourism as a key economic sector, with Ba Den National Tourist Area as the focal point of investment, the provincial People’s Committee aims to achieve national standards for the area by 2025, making it a leading tourist destination in the region.
The area is envisioned to be a hub, connecting and promoting local tourism in Tay Ninh and the entire Southeast region.
From 2021 to 2025, tourism revenue is targeted to reach VND 9,000 billion, with 18 million visitors. By 2030, Tay Ninh’s tourism sector is expected to contribute over 10% of the province’s GRDP.
The province aims for an average annual tourism revenue growth rate of at least 25%, along with the development and connection of attractive destinations, including the Ba Den Mountain Historical Relic and Scenic Landscape Complex, the Tay Ninh Cao Dai Holy See, Dau Tieng Lake, and the Special National Relic of the Southern Central Bureau.
In the near future, during the period of 2026-2030, the province sets an ambitious goal of VND 35,000 billion in tourism revenue, with an expected 37 million tourist arrivals.
“Tay Ninh aims to become a fast-growing, comprehensive, and sustainable province by 2030, establishing itself as a leading industrial and tourist center in the Southeast region and the country, offering a desirable destination and an appealing place to live,” said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ngoc, Chairman of the Tay Ninh People’s Committee.
The leader of Tay Ninh further added, “By 2050, the province will have an efficient public administration system, a business-friendly environment, and an attractive living environment, all supported by a sustainable and diverse ecosystem.”
In the first eight months of 2024, Tay Ninh’s production and business activities showed positive signs of recovery, with the local economy experiencing strong growth.
State budget revenue reached VND 8,422 billion, equivalent to 75.9% of the estimate, marking a 13.3% increase compared to the same period last year. As of August 20, the province had disbursed VND 1,611 billion out of VND 4,147 billion, achieving 38.6% of the plan assigned by the Prime Minister and 37.9% of the plan assigned by the Provincial People’s Council.
Disbursement by August 31 is estimated at VND 1,737 billion, reaching 41.6% of the plan assigned by the Prime Minister and 40.9% of the plan assigned by the Provincial People’s Council.
Tay Ninh: A Future Center for Industrial and Tourism Development
According to the Tay Ninh Provincial Planning for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision towards 2050, by 2030, industry and tourism services will be the main drivers of growth, along with the development of new spaces, transforming Tay Ninh into a prominent center for industrial and tourism development in the Southeast region and the country.
The average economic growth rate for the period of 2021-2030 is expected to reach approximately 9.5%/year. The economic structure is projected as follows: agriculture, forestry, and fisheries will account for about 11%, industry and construction will contribute about 58%, services will make up 25%, and taxes on products minus subsidies will account for 6%.
By 2050, Tay Ninh envisions becoming a province with an economy based on clean industry and high-tech agriculture, along with thriving trade and tourism, serving as an international trade gateway for the Southeast region and the country.
