The remaining part of Hon Quan district will be adjusted by including the entire natural area and population of Dong No, Tan Hiep, and Tan Quan communes into Chon Thanh town to expand its administrative boundaries.

Arranging the administrative units at the communal level to establish wards and communes under Binh Long town and Chon Thanh town (after expansion). After the rearrangement, Binh Long town will have an area of 642.29 km2 and a population of 162,417; it will comprise 16 administrative units, including seven wards (Phu Duc, Hung Chien, An Loc, Phu Thinh, Thanh Phu, Thanh Binh, and Tan Khai) and nine communes (Thanh Luong, An Phu, Minh Tam, Minh Duc, Phuoc An, Tan Loi, Tan Hung, An Khuong, and Thanh An).

Chon Thanh town will have an area of 538.21 km² and a population of 125,183; it will comprise 11 administrative units, including five wards (Minh Hung, Minh Long, Thanh Tam, Hung Long, and Minh Thanh) and six communes (Nha Bich, Minh Thang, Minh Lap, Tan Quan, Tan Hiep, and Dong No)

Thus, Binh Phuoc province will have 10 administrative units at the district level, including one city, three towns, and six districts; and 110 administrative units at the communal level, including 23 wards, four townlets, and 83 communes.

Ms. Tran Tue Hien, Chairwoman of the People’s Committee of Binh Phuoc province, emphasized that the rearrangement of administrative units at the district and communal levels for the period of 2023-2025 is considered an important political task, implementing the Party’s guidelines and the Central Government’s directives on administrative unit rearrangement to contribute to streamlining the organizational apparatus, downsizing the workforce, reducing state budget expenditure, expanding development space, and promoting the local potential and strengths.

According to Ms. Hien, in the past time, the locality has proactively and actively deployed the construction of the project and created consensus among officials, party members, civil servants, public employees, and the people. Recently, the collection of voters’ opinions in the localities where the rearrangement will take place has achieved a high consensus among the people (all above 96% of voters agreed)

At the meeting, the People’s Council of Binh Phuoc province also passed two thematic resolutions: Resolution on adjusting the provincial planning for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; and Resolution on agreeing on the plan to borrow from the government’s foreign loans and the repayment source to invest in the project of modernizing irrigation to adapt to climate change in the province. These are important resolutions that provide a legal basis for the direction and administration of the authorities at all levels.
