With the highly-anticipated iPhone 16 launch just around the corner, leaks are revealing exciting upgrades expected from Apple’s upcoming flagship device.
Notably, a brand-new button, referred to as the “Capture Button,” is creating a buzz. This addition marks a significant evolution from previous iPhone generations, promising an enhanced and more convenient photography experience.
On social media platform X, Duan Rui – known for his accurate leaks about upcoming Apple products – shared images of alleged iPhone 16 case designs. The images indicate a cutout for a new button on the right side of the device.

Prior to this, multiple sources hinted that all four iPhone 16 models would feature a dedicated photo-taking button, named the Capture Button. This button is expected to elevate the photography experience, especially when holding the phone horizontally.
Rumors vary regarding the nature of the Capture button. Some suggest it will be a force-sensitive touch button with Taptic Engine feedback, while others believe it will be a physical button with a touch-sensitive surface.

According to The Information, the Capture button is said to support various gestures, including swiping left or right to adjust zoom, tapping gently to focus, and pressing firmly to capture photos.
In a post on August 13th, Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman also mentioned the Capture button, stating that it will be featured on the iPhone 16 Pro models.

“This button will function similarly to a DSLR camera’s shutter button, allowing a half-press to autofocus. A full press will take the shot. You’ll also be able to swipe your finger on the button to zoom in or out while taking photos or filming videos,” wrote Gurman.Â
Additionally, Duan Rui mentioned that Apple’s official cases would have a unique design, lacking the cutout found in third-party cases, while still offering an optimal user experience. This detail is expected to differentiate cases manufactured by Apple from those produced by third-party companies for the iPhone 16 models.
According to 9to5Mac, if Duan Rui’s information is accurate, this could be the new FineWoven case that Apple introduced in September 2023, priced at $59 (approximately 1.4 million VND).
