According to the liaison letter from Hekou, China, requesting the temporary closure of the Lao Cai – Hekou international border gate due to heavy rainfall and rising water levels in the Hong and Nam Thi rivers, the Management Board of Lao Cai Province’s Economic Zone has announced an update on the situation at the Lao Cai (Ho Kieu) International Land Border Gate and the No. II International Land Border Gate (Kim Thanh).
Specifically, the suspension of entry and exit procedures for individuals and vehicles through the border gate took effect from 2 pm on September 9th. Once the flood situation improves, both sides will assess and agree on a timeline to resume normal operations.
For sectors that are members of the border gate management, instructions have been given to guide and facilitate administrative procedures for relevant organizations and individuals.
The Management Board requests that individuals and organizations involved in entry, exit, import, and export procedures be informed and proactively plan their goods transportation accordingly, in line with the agreement on cargo handling between the two sides.
