A representative from the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic Works in Ho Chi Minh City (Traffic Board), the investor of the above two projects, stated that the continuous rain for several days had impacted the asphalt paving work. To ensure the quality of the construction, the HC2 tunnel of the Nguyen Van Linh – Nguyen Huu Tho intersection project will be open to traffic by the end of September instead of the planned date of September 15.

“The investor has urged the contractors to increase their workforce and work day and night in three shifts and four groups during dry days to make up for the lost time due to rain, ensuring the completion of the entire project by December 2024,” said the representative from the Traffic Board.

The Nguyen Van Linh – Nguyen Huu Tho tunnel is nearing completion

The Nguyen Van Linh – Nguyen Huu Tho tunnel (connecting District 7 and Binh Chanh District) aims to alleviate traffic congestion at the southern gateway of the city. Currently, the HC2 branch has completed 90% of the work, while the HC1 branch has completed 60%.

Similarly, due to the prolonged rain, the Nam Ly Bridge (in Thu Duc City) will be open to traffic on September 23 instead of September 15. The contractor is expediting the project’s progress, increasing the workforce, and working on Saturdays and Sundays.

The construction of Nam Ly Bridge began in 2016 to replace the Rach Chiec culvert on Du Xuan Hop Street. In March 2019, when the project reached 40% completion, the construction had to be temporarily halted due to a lack of land.

In March 2023, the People’s Committee of Thu Duc City handed over the land to the investor for construction. The completion of the bridge will reduce traffic pressure in the area and alleviate congestion on Du Xuan Hop Street.
