According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, water levels as of 7 pm on September 9 were as follows on the respective rivers:
– Thao River at Lao Cai: 87.12m, 3.62m above the third alarm level (BĐ3) and 0.27m above the historical flood level of 1971 (86.85m);
– Thao River at Bao Ha: 60.98m, 3.98m above BĐ3, and 0.05m higher than the historical flood level of 2008 (60.93m);
– Thao River at Yen Bai: 34.28m, 2.28m above BĐ3, and 0.14m lower than the historical flood level of 1968 (34.42m);
– Cau River at Gia Bay Bridge: 28.71m, 1.71m above BĐ3, and 0.57m higher than the historical flood level of 1959 (28.14m);
– Cau River at Dap Cau: 5.57m, 0.27m above the second alarm level (BĐ2);
– Thuong River at Phu Lang Thuong: 6.16m, 0.14m below BĐ3;
– Luc Nam River at Luc Nam: 6.62m, 0.32m above BĐ3;
– Lo River at Tuyen Quang: 23.36m, 0.64m below BĐ2;
– Thai Binh River at Pha Lai: 4.47m, 0.47m above the first alarm level (BĐ1);
– Hong River at Hanoi: 7.56m, 1.94m below BĐ1.
From September 9 to 11, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, water levels on the Hoang Long River will continue to fall below the first alarm level (BĐ1). Meanwhile, a flood wave is expected on other rivers in the Northern region. During this wave, water levels on smaller rivers in mountainous provinces, especially Lang Son, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Bac Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Hoa Binh, and Son La, are predicted to reach BĐ2-BĐ3, with some rivers exceeding BĐ3.
