On September 7, 2024, typhoon number 3 (Yagi) made landfall in the northern coastal provinces of Vietnam, causing severe loss of life and property damage in its wake. The storm’s aftermath also led to heavy rainfall, resulting in floods, landslides, and further devastation in multiple provinces.

Oil and gas workers in Hai Phong, Thai Binh, and Quang Ninh were among those affected, with significant damage to their personal property and infrastructure, disrupting their daily lives.

Petrovietnam’s General Director, Le Ngoc Son, appeals to the company’s staff to uphold the spirit of solidarity and the oil industry’s culture of compassion, providing support to the communities devastated by typhoon number 3.

Responding to the calls of the country’s top leaders for businesses and organizations to contribute to disaster relief, Petrovietnam donated 10 billion VND from its social welfare fund to aid the affected communities. This donation embodies the company’s spirit of solidarity and support for the people in the affected areas, including its own employees, as they navigate the challenges posed by the typhoon’s aftermath.

During this challenging time, the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, in collaboration with the Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union, the Youth Union, the Veterans Association, and the Group’s agencies, launched a fundraising drive, encouraging all oil and gas workers to contribute to helping the people in the typhoon-affected regions.

In his appeal, Mr. Le Ngoc Son, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Director of Petrovietnam, emphasized the importance of solidarity and the oil industry’s culture of compassion. He urged all units, businesses, and employees in the industry to join hands in supporting the affected communities and people facing natural disasters.
