On September 6 and 7, 2024, the historic Typhoon Yagi struck Northern Vietnam with the strongest winds globally recorded in 2024. It rapidly intensified from a tropical storm to a category 5 super typhoon within 8 hours, the fastest intensification ever recorded for a typhoon in Vietnam. Yagi also lingered over land for an extended period, causing unprecedented damage. The storm’s slow movement resulted in prolonged heavy rainfall and severe flooding in multiple northern provinces. Areas like Thai Nguyen, Lai Chau, Yen Bai, and Lao Cai are under “purple alert,” indicating a very high risk of flash floods and landslides, severely impacting the lives and economic activities of the local population.

BIC expresses its deep empathy for the significant losses incurred by its customers and the public due to Typhoon Yagi. The company pledges to concentrate all its resources on supporting and standing with its customers to swiftly overcome the post-typhoon challenges. BIC assures its readiness to disburse compensation as soon as the necessary documentation is complete.
