Apple has just officially announced the latest iPhone generation, unveiling four models as per tradition. While the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus don’t offer significant upgrades compared to their predecessors, the premium duo of 16 Pro and Pro Max introduces some notable enhancements.
In terms of design, the new models retain the iconic Apple aesthetic with a titanium frame, a glass back, Dynamic Island on the front, and the Action Button introduced last year.
The color options for the Pro duo include black titanium, white titanium, natural titanium, and the highly anticipated desert titanium, which was a highlight of pre-release leaks.
A notable upgrade is the increase in screen size for the iPhone 16 Pro Max to 6.9 inches, up from the previous 6.7 inches, while the Pro also gets a bump to 6.3 inches (from 6.1 inches).
Impressively, despite the larger screens, the overall dimensions of the phones haven’t changed much thanks to thinner bezels. Specifically, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is only 3.1 mm taller and 0.88 mm wider than its predecessor, with both models maintaining an 8.25 mm thickness.
The devices continue to feature Liquid Retina XDR OLED displays with ProMotion technology and are IP68 rated for dust and water resistance.
The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max share the same camera system, boasting a 48 MP wide lens, a 48 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 5X telephoto camera. Thus, the auxiliary cameras have received a significant upgrade over the previous generation.
Perhaps the most impressive camera feature is the Camera Control button. This touch-sensitive button acts as a multi-functional shutter key, enabling quick focus while shooting or recording and allowing zoom control by sliding the button left or right. Holding down the button also provides access to all camera settings.
Performance-wise, the new iPhones are powered by Apple’s A18 Pro chip, a 3nm second-generation processor built on TSMC’s 3nm architecture. It offers a 15% performance boost while being 20% more power-efficient than the A17 Pro, and it supports faster USB 3 speeds and enhanced video post-processing capabilities, among other improvements.
Apple Intteligence is another novel feature with highlights such as Writing Tools, notification and email summaries, a Clean Up tool for removing unwanted objects from photos, smart photo search, emoji creation, an enhanced Siri, and, most notably, the integration of chatGPT into Siri and other AI tools.
However, this feature is not yet supported in the Vietnamese market.
Upon the product’s launch, Apple’s website for the Vietnamese market announced that pre-orders would begin on September 20th, with the official release following on September 27th. This marks the earliest availability of new iPhones in Vietnam to date.
The iPhone 16 Pro is priced from 28.99 million VND for the 128 GB version, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max starts at 34.99 million VND for the 256 GB option – the same price as its predecessor. The top-tier 1 TB model of the iPhone 16 Pro Max will retail for 46.99 million VND.
