Typhoon No. 3 (Yagi) made landfall in the northern coastal provinces, causing severe losses of lives and properties in the affected provinces and cities. The post-storm circulation also brought heavy rains, causing flooding, flash floods, and landslides, resulting in further severe consequences and losses in many localities.
Demonstrating the spirit of “mutual affection and support,” many provinces in North-Central Vietnam joined hands to share and support the people affected by the storm and floods.
In Quang Binh Province, on the afternoon of September 10, 2024, the province organized a ceremony to call for support for the northern provinces to overcome the consequences of the natural disaster caused by Typhoon No. 3.
At the event, the Party Committee, authorities, and people of Quang Binh Province contributed VND 2.5 billion to support the northern provinces in overcoming the storm and flood damage caused by Typhoon No. 3. In addition, units, organizations, and businesses in the province also contributed VND 2.2 billion. Especially, civil servants, public employees, armed forces, and workers in the province contributed more than VND 500 million to support the northern provinces.
In Ha Tinh Province, on September 10, the Provincial Executive Committee agreed to the proposal of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee to support the people in the northern provinces affected by Typhoon Yagi and floods.
Accordingly, Ha Tinh will allocate VND 2.1 billion from the budget reserve to provide emergency assistance to the severely affected northern provinces. This amount will be transferred directly to the account of the Relief Mobilization Committees of these provinces.
The Provincial Executive Committee also assigned the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee to take the lead in implementing and guiding agencies, units, localities, businesses, and people of Ha Tinh to actively respond to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to support the people in the northern provinces in a practical, effective, and timely manner.
In Nghe An Province, on September 10, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An Province called for joint efforts to support the people in overcoming the consequences of Typhoon No. 3. This appeal was sent to the Party committees, authorities, agencies, unions, businesses, business owners, officials, party members, and people of Nghe An Province.
Also, on September 10, responding to the call of the Front Working Committee of Minh Tan hamlet, the people of Minh Tan hamlet, Vo Liet commune (Thanh Chuong district), gathered at the hamlet’s cultural house to contribute food, leaves for wrapping cakes, and glutinous rice… They organized the wrapping and cooking of sticky rice cakes to present to the people in the flooded areas of the northern provinces.
In Vo Liet commune, not only Minh Tan hamlet but also other hamlets such as Minh Duc and Ha Luong organized contributions, wrapping, and cooking of sticky rice cakes on the same afternoon.
These small cakes wrapped everyone’s love towards the people in the flooded areas. The image of pots of sticky rice cakes cooked over a wood fire, glowing in the rainy night, not only demonstrated the spirit of solidarity and friendship but also ignited the flame of love from the people of Nghe An Province towards their fellow citizens in the north.
In Thanh Hoa Province, with the spirit of ‘mutual affection and support,’ and joining hands to help the people in the affected localities, on September 10, various agencies, sectors, and localities organized fundraising activities to support the people affected by Typhoon No. 3. For example, civil servants and employees of the Provincial Party Committee of Thanh Hoa actively contributed with a minimum of one day’s salary. In addition, the Office of the People’s Committee of Thanh Hoa Province raised VND 93 million to support the people affected by the typhoon.
Also, on September 10, the officials, party members, civil servants, employees, union members, and members of the mass organizations of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Thanh Hoa Province contributed more than VND 61 million to support households severely affected in terms of lives and properties in the northern provinces.
