This information was shared by the leadership of Amkor Technology Vietnam during a visit and working session with the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee of Bac Ninh on September 12.

The project for the production, assembly, and testing of semiconductor materials at the Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park is undertaken by Amkor Technology Vietnam, spanning an area of approximately 23 hectares with a total investment of about 530 million USD in its first phase.

The Amkor Bac Ninh factory officially commenced operations in August 2024. According to Amkor Technology Vietnam’s leadership, the company has secured agreements with four clients and exported its first batch of products. They are also in negotiations with six potential clients for new projects.

Amkor Technology Vietnam currently employs over 1,061 staff members, including 938 Vietnamese workers. Thus far, approximately 200 global clients have visited the factory to explore collaboration opportunities, and they have highly appraised the company’s infrastructure and human resource training quality.

During the working session, Mr. Ji Jong Rip, Global Manufacturing & Operations Director at Amkor Technology, expressed his gratitude to the leaders of Bac Ninh province for their support and assistance in ensuring a stable power supply and preventing flooding during the rainy season. This reflects the provincial leaders’ commitment to accompanying and supporting businesses through various challenges and fostering their development.

Mr. Ji Jong Rip also affirmed Amkor Technology’s dedication to focusing on semiconductor human resource training and accompanying the province in building a semiconductor ecosystem in Bac Ninh. This will not only help the province integrate more deeply into the global supply chain but also meet the company’s demand for high-quality human resources.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of Bac Ninh, expressed his delight at the company’s first export shipment and acknowledged and highly appreciated the company’s goodwill in continuing to expand its investment in line with its commitments to the province.

The Secretary also affirmed that the province had made thorough preparations and taken proactive measures to cope with the third storm. Compared to other industrial hubs in the North, Bac Ninh safely weathered the storm without power outages in critical production areas or prolonged localized flooding in industrial parks.

According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, this further proves that businesses’ decision to choose Bac Ninh as their investment destination is a wise one.

Amkor Technology was established simultaneously in the United States and South Korea in 1968. It was the first company to produce semiconductor products in South Korea and is a pioneer in the country’s semiconductor industry.

The leaders of the Amkor Technology Group have repeatedly emphasized that Amkor Bac Ninh will become a crucial stronghold and pillar in the group’s global network, contributing to the sustainable development of the semiconductor industry. It will also facilitate the formation and growth of a semiconductor ecosystem in Vietnam.
