A recent announcement by the government states that, according to the 2024 Land Law, the determination of administrative boundaries between Da Nang City and Thua Thien Hue Province falls under the authority of the government.
Based on the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the opinions of delegates, the Appraisal Council agreed with the Ministry’s proposal to determine the administrative boundaries between Thua Thien Hue Province and Da Nang City as follows: Thua Thien Hue Province will manage the area north of Hai Van Mountain, while Da Nang City will oversee Son Cha Island and the area south of Hai Van Mountain.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, in coordination with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and relevant ministries, agencies, and localities, will promptly present a resolution to the government regarding the determination of administrative boundaries between Thua Thien Hue Province and Da Nang City.
Furthermore, the Government Office notified relevant ministries, central agencies, People’s Committees of Thua Thien Hue and Da Nang, and concerned agencies for their information and implementation.
Son Cha Island, also known as Son Cha Con Island, lies at the foot of Nam Hai Van Mountain, near the Son Tra Peninsula in Da Nang City. The decision to assign a locality to manage the island has been pending for years without a clear demarcation. By entrusting its management to a specific locality, effective conservation and economic potential exploration of this area can be achieved.
