On the morning of September 13, the 48th Regiment (Thang Long-Thach Han) of the 390th Division, 12th Army Corps, mobilized nearly 200 officers and soldiers to build embankments and prevent flooding and erosion along the Hoat River in Ha Bac commune, Ha Trung district.
As soon as the water level in the Hoat River in Ha Bac commune was reported to be rising and posing a serious threat of embankment breach, nearly 200 officers and soldiers from the Regiment, along with equipment, quickly mobilized to the Hoat River embankment. They coordinated with the local authorities, community groups, and people of Ha Bac commune to build embankments, prevent water from overflowing, and minimize potential risks to the lives and property of the local population.
Due to continuous rainfall and the influx of water from upstream, the water level of the Buoi River in Thach Thanh district, Thanh Hoa province, continued to rise. At 9 am on September 13, the water level at the Kim Tan Hydrometeorological Station reached 11.81 meters, just 0.19 meters below the warning level III, and showed signs of further increase. In response to this situation, Thach Thanh district has developed a scenario to cope with the flood.
The District Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, and Civil Defense is closely monitoring weather conditions and flood levels in the Buoi River, ready to deal with any adverse situations.
According to the district’s response plan, if the flood level rises above warning level III, Thach Thanh district will proactively evacuate nearly 1,000 households, approximately 3,000 people, from nine riverside communes that lack embankments.
Currently, some communes in the district have reported flooded houses, and the district has instructed these communes to evacuate the elderly and children to safe locations.
As of 8 am on September 13, more than 300 households in Thach Thanh district were flooded, and many transport routes were cut off, affecting the lives and daily activities of the local residents.
Most of the flooded households are located in Kim Tan town and Thanh Truc commune, with the remaining households distributed across the communes of Thanh Cong, Thach Binh, Thach Cam, Thanh Vinh, Thanh Truc, Thanh Tam, Thanh Tien, and Van Du.
To support the people in overcoming the consequences of the flood, during the past days, along with the local Party committees and authorities, units have maximized their forces and means to coordinate with local forces in implementing plans to address the aftermath of the flood.
In the past few days, the water level of the Buoi River in Thanh Hoa province has been constantly rising, threatening the safety of households living along the embankment. Upon receiving the news that 18 households in Ward 3, Ngoc Trao ward, Bi Son town were at risk of flooding, more than 50 officers and soldiers from the 368th Brigade, 12th Army Corps, promptly mobilized to the area and evacuated the residents to a safe location.
