Ninh Bình, a vibrant province in Vietnam, witnessed a positive economic and social landscape in the first eight months of 2024, as reported by the Ninh Binh Provincial People’s Committee on September 9th. The province’s foreign trade activities rebounded strongly, with a double-digit monthly growth in industrial production, reaching an estimated value of VND 8,501.1 billion, a 13.5% increase. The cumulative value for the first eight months stood at VND 65,305.9 billion, up by 8.6% compared to the previous year.

Agriculture remained stable, with Yen Khanh district successfully achieving the title of a new-style rural area in 2023. Yen Mo district and other communes are focused on completing the assessment process for the same recognition in 2024.

Ninh Binh solidified its position as a leading tourist destination for both domestic and international travelers. Based on TripAdvisor reviews, the province secured a spot in the “Top 10 Most Attractive Experiences in the World for 2024.” The region’s tourism services have witnessed significant enhancements, offering diverse products and innovative tours to cater to the evolving preferences of visitors.

From January to August, Ninh Binh welcomed nearly 6.9 million tourists, marking a 32.7% increase. Notably, international arrivals reached nearly 828,000, tripling the figure from the previous year. The number of staying guests amounted to almost 1.4 million, a 63% surge, generating a revenue of VND 6,758.2 billion, reflecting a 45.7% growth year-on-year.

In August 2024, the province’s export turnover reached USD 317.4 million, a 4% increase. The cumulative export turnover for the first eight months stood at USD 2,281 million, a 9.6% rise. Import turnover for the month reached USD 286 million, a 26.8% surge compared to the same period last year, while the eight-month cumulative import turnover exceeded USD 2,088.6 million, a 14.1% increase.

As of August 2024, the total state budget revenue in Ninh Binh reached VND 10,414,678 billion, fulfilling 56% of the target set by the Provincial People’s Council. The province’s capital disbursement rate stood at 47.32% of the plan assigned by the Prime Minister, higher than the national average of 40.5%.

Mr. Tong Quang Thin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, acknowledged the remarkable achievements in socio-economic development during the first eight months. He commended the efforts and determination of the departments, sectors, and localities in performing their tasks.

To ensure the fulfillment of socio-economic development targets in the remaining months of 2024, Mr. Thin instructed the authorities to strengthen coordination and heighten their sense of responsibility in performing their duties. He emphasized the importance of preparedness for typhoon Yagi and potential upcoming storms, focusing on socio-economic development, and enhancing state budget collection.

Additionally, he urged the vigorous implementation of solutions to accelerate public investment disbursement, land-use right auctions, and the maintenance of political security, social order, and national defense. Effective deployment of cultural projects assigned by the Provincial Party Committee was also highlighted.

Mr. Thin also directed the preparation for the upcoming specialized session of the Provincial People’s Council and the efficient execution of projects, including the arrangement of administrative units at the district and commune levels for the 2023-2025 period. He emphasized the development of the “Hoa Lu City” project and the adjustment of the Ninh Binh urban development program for 2021-2030, with a vision towards 2050. The province will also focus on formulating a project to build and develop Ninh Binh province by 2035, with a vision towards 2045.
