The two leaders agreed that in nearly seven decades, the relationship between the two countries, founded by President Ho Chi Minh and President Sukarno, has grown strongly and extensively, especially after the upgrade to a Strategic Partnership in 2013. Mutual understanding and political trust have deepened, and cooperation in various fields has become more comprehensive and effective. The two sides actively coordinate and support each other in multilateral mechanisms (the United Nations, ASEAN, the Non-Aligned Movement, etc.)

Accordingly, the two leaders agreed on several major orientations to effectively tap the potential for cooperation in various fields, bringing the Strategic Partnership to a new height, substantively, and soon, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 80th anniversary of National Day of the two countries.

The two sides also agreed to continue enhancing exchanges and contacts at all levels and through all channels (Party, State, Government, and people-to-people exchanges), effectively implementing bilateral cooperation mechanisms to strengthen trust and help resolve difficulties in various fields. They expressed their belief that the two countries will soon achieve the goal of 18 billion USD in two-way trade; agreeing to coordinate to remove difficulties, reduce trade barriers, and facilitate trade promotion activities and market access for each other’s goods, including agricultural products and Halal products.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam is ready to cooperate and support Indonesia in ensuring food security and proposed the early signing of a rice trade cooperation agreement.

At the same time, the Prime Minister requested that Indonesia facilitate the access of Vietnam’s agricultural products and Halal products to the Indonesian market and support Vietnam in removing the “IUU yellow card” in the seafood sector.
