The Gumball 3000 supercar journey officially kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday (September 14).
The event attracted more than 100 top supercars from many countries around the world. All these supercars gathered at Le Loi Boulevard (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) from noon on September 14th. The journey included the presence of many special, rare models from around the world.
The Koenigsegg Regera, nicknamed “Honey”, belongs to Team 67 from the USA. What makes this car unique is its body, made from carbon fiber mixed with crushed diamonds. As a result, the Regera will sparkle with diamond dust when parked under the sun. Moreover, the Koenigesgg Regera “Honey” is the world’s first car to integrate an NFT. When scanning the logo “Honey” at the rear of the car, which is also the NFT code, a short video will automatically play, featuring Mr. Christian von Koenigsegg (the founder) introducing this Regera, along with a song called “Honey” composed by his youngest son, Sebastian von Koenigsegg.
This Pagani Huayra Roadster BC is from the USA. Its exterior stands out with a green carbon fiber body, interspersed with contrasting orange sections on the stripes, front bumper, and sides. Only 40 Pagani Huayra Roadster BCs were produced worldwide, and the one in Vietnam is number 15/40.
The third hypercar to excite car enthusiasts is the Porsche Carrera GT from Team 85, Thailand. The car’s exterior is painted in glossy black. Although this hypercar was launched in 2003, the sight of a Carrera GT always thrills car enthusiasts.
A truck with a body resembling the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. In addition, the group also included a Ford Ranger Raptor.
The supercar lineup included well-known brands such as Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes-AMG, and Porsche.
Gumball 3000 also featured several SUV models, with a strong showing from the Lamborghini Urus.
Other notable vehicles included the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Cadillac Escalade, Land Rover Defender, and Mercedes-AMG G63.
The presence of a Toyota Fortuner drew surprised looks from onlookers.
Team 65 included a Mercedes-Maybach with Ho Chi Minh City license plates. The car was driven by two Vietnamese-Americans.
Additionally, for the first leg of the journey from Vietnam to Cambodia, two VinFast electric vehicles, the VF 7 and VF 9, joined the Gumball 3000 supercar convoy.
As per the schedule, the supercar convoy will depart Ho Chi Minh City for the Moc Bai border gate (Tay Ninh province) today (September 15). They will then continue through Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia before concluding their journey in Singapore on September 22nd.
