On September 13, the Gumball 3000 organizers announced the launch of its 25th journey, commencing from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and concluding in Singapore.
The highlight of the event is the opening of the Gumball Grid 3000, dubbed the “world’s most expensive car park,” from 10 am on Saturday, September 14. Le Loi Boulevard in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, will transform into a showcase for over 120 supercars, many of which are unique in the world.
Out of the 120 cars, 100 will participate in the journey, and 20 will be on display from the Trung Nguyen Legend Corporation. The Gumball Grid event will be open to the public free of charge on September 14.
Notable supercars and sports cars on display include the Bugatti Chiron, a Rolls-Royce pickup truck conversion, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and the Ferrari 812 Competizione, among others.
The presence of three hypercars, the Koenigsegg Regera, Pagani Huayra Roadster BC, and Porsche Carrera GT, is sure to excite automotive enthusiasts.
The Pagani Huayra Roadster BC, part of Team 99 from the USA, stands out with its green carbon fiber body, accented by contrasting orange stripes, front bumper, and sides. Only 40 units of this car exist globally, and the one in Vietnam bears the serial number 15/40.
Next up is the Koenigsegg Regera, nicknamed “Honey,” from Team 67, also from the USA. It is one-of-a-kind globally, as its carbon fiber body is mixed with crushed diamonds. As a result, the Regera will sparkle with diamond dust when parked in the sunlight. Moreover, the Koenigesgg Regera “Honey” is the world’s first car to integrate an NFT. Scanning the “Honey” logo at the rear of the vehicle reveals an NFT that automatically plays a short video of Mr. Christian von Koenigsegg, the company’s founder, introducing the Regera, accompanied by the song “Honey,” composed by his youngest son, Sebastian von Koenigsegg.
The third hypercar to thrill automotive enthusiasts is the Porsche Carrera GT from Team 85, originating from Thailand. It boasts a sleek black gloss exterior. Even though this hypercar was introduced 20 years ago, its appearance never fails to excite car enthusiasts.
Participants in the journey represent 40 countries and include notable figures such as Gumball 3000 founder Maximillion Cooper, YouTuber James Walker, and Manchester United football legend Patrice Erva, to name a few.
Following this, Gumball 3000 will host an intimate 25th-anniversary celebration and charity fundraiser at the Reunification Hall in Ho Chi Minh City. The organizers will conduct a fundraising campaign to support Vietnam’s relief and recovery efforts in the aftermath of storms and floods.
On Sunday, September 15, at 11 am, the journey will commence with a flag-off ceremony, marking the start of the first leg from Le Loi Boulevard to the Cu Chi Tunnels. The convoy will then move on to Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia before concluding the journey in Singapore on September 21, coinciding with the F1 Singapore Grand Prix 2024.
While Gumball 3000 has visited Asian countries before, this is the first time in its history that the entire journey will take place on the continent.
