In a letter to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Government Office from New Delhi, India, billionaire Gautam Adani expressed his deepest condolences to the people of Vietnam, especially those facing the severe consequences of YAGI and flooding. To share the difficulties with Vietnam, the Adani Group donated $1 million to the Central Relief Aid Mobilization Committee, hoping to provide necessary support for charitable and relief activities in the affected northern provinces and at the Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital in Haiphong in the coming time. According to Mr. Gautam Adani, the Adani Group stands with the Vietnamese people to overcome this historic disaster. “I would like to extend my sincere wishes for peace to the people of Vietnam and hope that all affected families and communities will soon recover from the devastation caused by nature,” said billionaire Gautam Adani.

Born in 1962 into a small trading family with many siblings, Gautam Adani’s father was a textile shop owner and operator. To change his life, he decided to move to Mumbai and got a job at a diamond company. In 1981, he bought a plastics factory, which he personally managed, and officially expanded his business regionally.

In 1988, he founded Adani Exports, the predecessor of Adani Enterprises Limited, under the famous Adani Group of India. He then bought Mundra, India’s largest private commercial port, gradually becoming an Asian billionaire and one of the richest people in the world.

In 1996, the Adani Group developed India’s largest private thermal power plant. His successful business ventures led to many significant deals, from Abbot Point port to the Carmichael coal mine in Queensland, Australia.

Mr. Adani’s biggest boost came in May 2020 when he won the bid for the world’s largest solar power project worth $6 billion. Just four months later, he acquired a 74% stake in Mumbai International Airport, India’s second-largest airport by capacity.

After 30 years, from an employee, Gautam Adani has turned his founded company into India’s most famous conglomerate. Despite many ups and downs, he remains steadfast in the business world, frequently competing with Mukesh Ambani for the title of Asia’s richest billionaire.
