The leader of the Quang Ninh People’s Committee has reported that over 6,000 tourists have visited Ha Long Bay in the aftermath of Typhoon Number 3. Approximately 50 tourist boats carried 1,000 tourists to the bay on September 13 alone.
The Ha Long Bay Management Board in Quang Ninh, along with other units and enterprises, promptly cleaned up, purchased equipment, and prepared the necessary facilities to ensure the safety of visitors.
Nguyen Quang Kha, captain of the Vinh Xanh 9468 boat, was surprised at how quickly things returned to normal. He was delighted to receive the news that Quang Ninh Province was allowing tourists back in. The tourist boats quickly overcame the storm’s aftermath and dedicated all resources to meeting the requirements for receiving guests. Kha’s boat has already carried the first tourists to Ha Long Bay.

Ngo Van Nam, Vice President of the Ha Long Tourism Boat Association, shared: “I have never witnessed such a big storm, which caused severe consequences for the boats. The boat owners have prepared equipment, ensured technical safety, and are ready to serve the guests with the best conditions.”
Immediately after the typhoon, the tourist boats focused on maintenance and ensuring the necessary facilities to resume operations as soon as possible.
Currently, 359 boats are moored at Ha Long International Passenger Port and Tuan Chau International Passenger Port, with 315 boats ready to operate.
Ha Long City launched a seven-day campaign to recover from the typhoon, but thanks to the collaborative spirit and unity of the city’s people, the city’s rhythm and tourism are gradually reviving, just a few days after the campaign was launched, in the area where the storm hit.
“Right after the storm, the city leaders promptly and actively directed the localities, calling on the people and businesses to overcome the consequences. The rhythm of life is gradually returning to normal. It is gratifying that many tourist groups have chosen Ha Long as their destination, especially international guests,” said Phan Thi Hai Huong, Head of the Ha Long City Party Committee’s Propaganda Department.
Up to now, Mong Cai, Hai Ha, Uong Bi, and Co To districts have accommodation ready to welcome guests. In Van Don District, accommodation facilities in Quan Lan and Minh Chau communes are still being improved and are not yet ready to receive guests, but some onshore facilities can provide services.
Some key tourist sites in Ha Long City, such as the Quang Ninh Museum, the Planning, Trade Fair and Exhibition Center, the Sun World amusement park, and Tuan Chau tourist area, were heavily damaged and are being repaired to welcome visitors soon.
Some international tourist groups with pre-arranged programs continued their journey to Quang Ninh after the storm.
