A customer of MB Bank reported a mistaken transfer of a large sum of money to ACB Bank in early July 2024. The customer, Ms. N.C.S.A, residing in Hue City, discovered the error and immediately took action by contacting the MB Bank branch in Dong Ha, Quang Tri Province, to request a trace on the transaction. The issue was then escalated to ACB Bank for further investigation.

Ms. S.A. communicated with the recipient, Mr. B.D.C., a resident of Vinh Tuong District, Vinh Phuc Province, through the coordination of the two banks. However, Mr. B.D.C. refused to cooperate and demanded that Ms. S.A. travel to Vinh Phuc Province to resolve the matter.

Mistaken transfers often lead to challenging retrieval processes.

On August 23, the Hue City Police sent a request to ACB Bank to assist in recovering the transferred amount of VND 450 million. As of September, Ms. S.A. has not received the funds, expressing her concern about the prolonged process.

In response to the media, ACB Bank confirmed that they had frozen the recipient’s account upon receiving the initial report from Ms. S.A. and the subsequent request from the Hue City Police. However, for the bank to release the funds, an official decision from the police to seize the mistakenly transferred money is required. ACB Bank has been actively communicating with the authorities and recently sent another request to the Hue City Police on September 13, emphasizing their willingness to cooperate in resolving the issue.

Additionally, ACB Bank shared that they had reached out to Mr. B.D.C. multiple times regarding the matter. While he initially responded and agreed to visit the bank on September 4, no further action has been taken by Mr. B.D.C. as of September 12.
