The intersection of Vung Tau and Gate 11 crossroads is a critical transportation hub for Dong Nai province and the Southeast region. This route sees a high volume of vehicles daily, resulting in prolonged congestion, especially during peak hours.

According to VTC News reporters, the Vung Tau intersection (in Bien Hoa city) is equipped with an overpass, an underpass, lighting, and clear road markings. However, due to its location on a major thoroughfare, this area has become a traffic bottleneck.

This route is primarily used by oversized vehicles, container trucks, and tractor-trailers transporting goods to and from the Binh Duong port, Dong Nai port, and Bien Hoa industrial park.

During rush hour, the Vung Tau intersection and both directions of National Highway 51 (from Bien Hoa to Ba Ria-Vung Tau and from Ba Ria-Vung Tau to Dong Nai) experience inescapable gridlock.

Vo Van Tuan, a resident of Bien Hoa, shared that the Vung Tau intersection is a source of dread for locals due to frequent accidents. “Not only is there congestion, but this intersection also sees a high number of traffic accidents, mostly involving collisions between trucks, containers, and motorbikes,” said Tuan.

Tran Thi Tam, a street vendor in the Vung Tau intersection area, noted that during weekends and holidays, the traffic jams can stretch for over 1 kilometer.

To address the long-standing traffic congestion at the Vung Tau intersection, Dong Nai province has proposed a renovation project with an estimated investment of nearly VND 4,750 billion.

About 8 kilometers from the Vung Tau intersection, the Gate 11 roundabout is also slated for improvement by Dong Nai province, with a proposed investment of over VND 8,433 billion. Of this, more than VND 4,638 billion will be allocated for land clearance, and nearly VND 2,900 billion for construction.

The Gate 11 roundabout, connecting Vo Nguyen Giap and Bui Van Hoa streets, facilitates travel from the center of Bien Hoa city to Ba Ria-Vung Tau, as well as to Trang Bom district and National Highways 1 and 20. As a result, this area experiences heavy traffic.
