After nearly 6 years of construction, the project to build a 40-meter-long road connecting Nguyen Van Cu Street to the end of Ngoc Thuy Resettlement Area (Long Bien District, Hanoi) is nearing completion.

The construction began in 2018 with a total investment of VND 1,200 billion, carried out by the People’s Committee of Long Bien District. More than half of the investment was spent on site clearance and resettlement support.

Long Bien District initially planned to complete the 1.5-kilometer-long road with a 40-meter-wide cross-section and 6 lanes by 2020. However, due to some obstacles, especially in site clearance, the project has fallen behind schedule.

A key feature of this road is the steel overpass at the intersection of Hong Tien and Nguyen Van Cu Streets.

The road sections have basically completed the main items, and people can now travel from the intersection of Nguyen Van Cu – Hong Tien to Ngoc Thuy and vice versa.

The steel overpass at the intersection of Hong Tien and Nguyen Van Cu Streets is still under construction and closed off to the public.

The road has basically completed items such as asphalt surfacing, installation of guardrails, and lighting systems…

The starting point of the project intersects with Nguyen Van Cu Street (Ngoc Lam Ward, Long Bien District, Hanoi). The end of the road connects to Ngoc Thuy Street, creating a continuous transportation axis from Dong Tru Bridge through the wards of Thuong Thanh, Ngoc Thuy, Ngoc Lam, Bo De, Long Bien, and Thach Ban, connecting to the Hanoi – Hai Phong expressway.

The road is designed with 2 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 mixed lanes.

Currently, the main task on the construction site is to complete the paving of the sidewalk with stones at the Tai Voi Lake section and the end of the route at the intersection with Ngoc Thuy Street.

According to the Project Management Board for Investment Construction of Long Bien District, the obstacles in site clearance have been resolved. It is expected that the entire route will be technically open for traffic on October 10 (the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital). The road will meet the travel needs of the surrounding residents and inter-regional areas, while also addressing traffic congestion and promoting socio-economic development in the locality.
