On the afternoon of September 15, leaders of Lao Cai province inspected, studied, and discussed with the leaders of Bao Yen district, experienced experts, and finalized the selection of a relocation site for the new Lang Nu village, approximately 2 km away from the old village that was swept away by floods.
This area offers ample space, higher and safer terrain, and convenient access to transportation, electricity, and water infrastructure. The local authorities then held a vote among the surviving villagers of Lang Nu, receiving 100% consensus.
Moreover, this relocation site can accommodate not only those affected by the flash flood but also residents currently living in lower-lying areas.
The newly constructed homes in the resettlement area will follow the traditional architecture of the local Tay people. Once completed, the villagers will draw lots to choose their new homes, ensuring fairness and democracy.

Starting tomorrow (September 16), the local authorities will deploy machinery for measurement, planning, and compensation for land clearance and construction, determined to complete the task before December 31, 2024.
