Saigon Co.op Responds to Flooding in Vietnam with Essential Supplies and Aid

The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trade Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op) has swiftly launched a program titled “Non-profit Goods for Flood-affected People and Relief Organizations.”

To facilitate individuals and groups engaged in charitable work, Co.opmart has prepared ready-to-go meal kits that are nutritionally balanced and gender-specific personal care bags, priced affordably from 30,000 VND to 100,000 VND each. These kits are vacuum-sealed for convenient transportation and storage, ensuring the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. The meals and care bags are tailored to the realities on the ground and include essentials such as pure water, milk, sausages, rice cakes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other personal items. They are being sold at cost price. Depending on the situation, Co.opmart also provides delivery services for these orders upon request.

Saigon Co.op has maintained stable prices for essential goods across its 800 sales outlets. In Northern Vietnam, the company collaborates with business partners to share costs and offer maximum price reductions for the most in-demand items during the flood season: fruits and vegetables, pure water, and dried foods.

In the past few days, Saigon Co.op has worked with cooperatives and farmers in the path of the storm in the provinces of Hung Yen and Hoa Binh to help sell 3.5 tons of Viba bananas at non-profit prices through the Co.op Food system in Northern Vietnam. This initiative aims to support farmers who suffered losses of hundreds of hectares of bananas due to Typhoon No. 3 (Yagi).

The distribution centers across the Saigon Co.op system are on high alert, operating 24/7 to manage and dispatch vehicles for the timely delivery of goods to the Northern Distribution Center. Additionally, over 800 sales outlets serve as satellite warehouses, ensuring a consistent supply of goods in all scenarios.
