Although Hanoi’s supermarket system is focusing on ensuring a supply of vegetables and food for local residents, many supermarkets are also partnering with manufacturers to organize various promotional programs and product discounts.

For instance, from now until September 24th, LOTTE Mart is offering promotions on mooncakes with their “Mỹ vị đoàn viên” campaign. Additionally, they are providing exclusive discounts through their “Siêu coupon – Siêu rẻ” policy for members with orders over 200,000 VND and 500,000 VND.

During this period, the BRGMart supermarket system is also offering hundreds of promotional items with discounts of up to 50%. They have launched programs like “Tươi mát đong đầy,” reducing prices on frozen fruits, dairy products, and various frozen foods, and “Sum vầy yêu thương,” offering up to 50% discounts on mooncakes.

Notably, the BRG system has introduced a buy-one-get-one deal on fresh sausage, fish eggs, beef shanks, and shrimp. AEON Vietnam has also implemented discounts ranging from 10% to 50% on food, chemicals, electrical appliances, household goods, and fashion items. In addition, AEON maintains programs such as “Low Price Every Day,” “Happy Wednesday,” and “Member Benefits.”

The BRGMart supermarket system offers promotions and discounts on hundreds of items, with savings of up to 50%.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Deputy General Director of WinMart, which operates the WinMart supermarkets and WinMart+/WiN stores, stated that they are currently doubling their supply of vegetables compared to regular days and are committed to ensuring an abundant supply of clean vegetables. For areas severely affected by flooding, where leafy vegetables were damaged, the supermarket quickly coordinated with WinEco farms and other suppliers in Lam Dong and the South to secure alternative sources.

This effort ensures a steady supply of clean vegetables in their supermarkets and stores for customers. At present, fresh food items such as meat, fish, vegetables, and essential products like rice and noodles are still available at stable prices. In addition, WinMart continues to offer a 20% discount on MEATDeli meat and WinEco vegetables for WiN members.

Similarly, Mr. Vu Anh Khoa, Chairman of the Board of Saigon Co.op, shared that their supermarket system in northern Vietnam has tripled its inventory compared to regular days. In addition to ensuring product availability and food safety and maintaining stable prices, Co.opmart is also offering promotions and deep discounts on essential items. These include instant noodles/pho/porridge, yogurt, fresh milk, biscuits, laundry and fabric softener, fresh vegetables, and various types of pork, beef, and poultry.

In addition to essential items, it is also the season for new university, college, and vocational school students across the country to enroll for the new academic year. Understanding the needs of these new students, several electronics supermarkets have launched promotional programs and discounts to attract customers, especially for laptop computers.

Specifically, Media Mart supermarkets are offering laptops with discounts of up to 50%, vouchers of up to 10 million VND, and the opportunity to exchange exam scores for money when purchasing laptops. From now until September 30, 2014, customers who buy laptops will receive an additional discount of 500,000 VND if they are new students, and a further discount of up to 300,000 VND if they pay through an e-wallet. They will also receive a free backpack or laptop bag, free delivery and installation worth 150,000 VND, and a gift voucher package worth up to 10 million VND.

At Dien May Xanh supermarkets, with the promotion “Nhả vía: Lấy điểm đổi tiền – mua liền laptop,” from now until October 31, customers who buy laptops will receive additional discounts of up to 3 million VND if they are new students, on top of the discounts offered under the program. After Storm No. 3, the demand for home and warehouse repairs has also increased significantly. In practical terms, many building materials suppliers, such as the director of LEXFAS Limited Company Le Xuan Chanh in Dong Anh, Hanoi, have shared that they have promptly dispatched personnel to affected construction sites and factories to support customers, assess the damage, and find solutions with the lowest possible cost.

Regarding sand, gravel, and cement, business owners of building material stores in Hoang Cau, Hanoi, reported that the prices of many items have remained stable, such as cement and perforated bricks. Only the prices of sand and gravel have seen a slight increase due to the impact of storms and floods, making extraction and transportation more challenging. It is expected that prices will return to normal by the end of September.

According to the Price Management Department (Ministry of Finance), there has been a preliminary understanding that, in some localities, at certain times, there has been a shortage of some commodities such as vegetables, fruits, food, and drinks, leading to price increases in those areas. However, the Price Management Department forecasts that the prices of these commodities will soon stabilize in the coming days due to the Government’s and ministries’ and sectors’ decisive direction and solutions to increase supply.

Local governments in Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Quang Ninh, and Hai Phong have sent documents to their subordinates to promptly grasp the market price movements and strengthen price management and market stabilization in their areas. According to the Price Management Department, the shortage of food due to floods and storms in the North is being supplemented by businesses importing goods from the South, and many supermarkets are still stabilizing the prices of fresh food (meat, fish, vegetables) and essential goods such as rice and instant noodles.
