The Business Community Rallies to Support Those Affected by Storm Yagi

The recent Typhoon No. 3 (Yagi) and its aftermath of floods, landslides, and other natural disasters have had a devastating impact on the lives of people in the northern provinces of Vietnam. Heartwarmingly, the business community has stepped up and shown immense support for those affected by the typhoon.

Major corporations have also contributed significantly, with Vingroup donating 250 billion VND, Petrovietnam offering 20 billion VND, and Petrolimex, Bao Viet Group, and TH True Milk giving 5 billion VND each. Vinalines contributed 1 billion VND.

The Vietnam Rubber Group, CMC Technology Group, State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC), and Vinataba each donated 500 million VND. Vinatex, Vietnam Steel Corporation, and Vietnam Airlines contributed 300 million VND each, while VNPT, Daibiru Corporation Japan, Vinafor, Vinafood1, Mobifone, and Vietnam Cement contributed 200 million VND each.

In the technology sector, Grab contributed 2.5 billion VND directly to the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee for flood relief efforts in the northern provinces. They also provided an additional 500 million VND for food and essential item support.

Lazada Vietnam offered 1.2 billion VND to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, including 500 million VND in cash and 700 million VND worth of essential goods for the heavily affected provinces of Lao Cai and Yen Bai. On September 16, Lazada Logistics delivered over 34,000 essential items such as milk, biscuits, bottled water, detergent, and toothpaste to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of Lao Cai and Yen Bai provinces.

As of 5:00 PM on September 16, 2024, the Central Relief Fundraising Committee had received a total of 1,236 billion VND (One thousand two hundred and thirty-six billion dong) in donations. Based on the damage incurred by the affected regions, the Committee decided to allocate a second round of support totaling 650 billion VND. Thus, with the two rounds of allocations, the Central Relief Fundraising Committee has distributed a total of 1,035 billion VND.
