According to reports from the Quang Ninh Newspaper, the Thanh Cong Viet Hung automobile factory (owned by TC Group) is nearing completion after 2 years of construction. The factory is currently in the final stages of development, with the main construction items already completed. These include a welding, painting, and assembly workshop system, as well as auxiliary works such as an LPG station, compressed air station, and test track. The quality control functional areas began trial operations in early May 2024.

Regarding equipment items, construction has reached over 90% of the total volume and is expected to be completed by October this year. This will mark the transition to the experimental operation phase, with the first batches of automobiles set to roll off the production line by the end of 2024 and be supplied to the market in 2025.

In the initial operation phase, the factory will assemble SUV and B-segment Sedan models. The next phase will see an expansion into electric vehicle lines.

The Thanh Cong Viet Hung automobile factory is a project invested by the Thanh Cong Group (TC Group) and covers an area of 36.5 hectares. With a designed capacity of 120,000 vehicles per year, the factory will produce and assemble Skoda-branded automobiles under a cooperation program between the leading automobile company from the Czech Republic and TC Group. This is also the first automobile factory project in Quang Ninh Province.

TC Group is a prominent mechanical and automobile assembly corporation in Vietnam. Its predecessor, the Thanh Cong Mechanical Company, was established in 1999. In 2008, the company changed its name to Thanh Cong Group Joint Stock Company, becoming the brainchild of the entire Thanh Cong system. Currently, Thanh Cong Group has a charter capital of VND 3,500 billion, with Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan as the Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Since 2009, TC Group has been an official partner of Hyundai Motor in distributing, manufacturing, and assembling passenger cars in Vietnam. In mid-2019, Thanh Cong introduced TC Motor as the brand representing the entire automotive division of the Group.

In 2009, TC Group began investing in a project to build an automobile manufacturing and assembly factory in Ninh Binh province. In 2011, the Group inaugurated its first Hyundai automobile factory in Gian Khau Industrial Park, Gia Vien district.

In November 2022, the second automobile manufacturing and assembly factory (HTMV2) was put into operation, bringing the total capacity of Hyundai automobile factories of Hyundai Thanh Cong Vietnam Joint Venture in Gian Khau Industrial Park to 180,000 vehicles per year. This made the joint venture the largest automobile manufacturer in the region for Hyundai Motor.

In the first eight months of 2024, TC Motor sold 34,400 Hyundai vehicles, a slight decrease from the same period last year, which saw sales of 35,200 vehicles.

In 2023, TC Group sold a total of 67,450 Hyundai-branded vehicles. The Group ranked third in the top 10 multi-sector private corporations in Vietnam’s PRIVATE 100 list, with tax contributions of VND 13,800 billion in 2023, following Vingroup (VND 30,900 billion) and THACO (VND 21,000 billion).
