Politburo Gives Opinions on Investment Policy for High-Speed North-South Railway

After listening to the report of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Transport on the Proposal of the Investment Project for the North-South High-Speed Railway and the opinions of agencies, the Politburo discussed and concluded that this is a very important and necessary project.

The goal of constructing the high-speed railway is to efficiently meet the ever-growing transport demands, contribute to the modernization of the transport system, and restructure the North-South transport market share. The railway will also create a premise and driving force for socio-economic development, ensure national defense and security, and help realize the Party’s guidelines and orientations on investing in transport infrastructure development in the country’s development strategy under the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress and the implementation of national planning.

The railway will enhance regional connectivity, growth poles, and create a spillover effect, opening up new economic development spaces, restructuring urban areas, redistributing the population, and transforming the economic structure, thus increasing the competitiveness of the economy.

The North-South High-Speed Railway will ensure North-South transport needs, being the largest transport corridor in the country, meeting socio-economic development requirements, and restructuring the transport market share to suit the advantages of each mode, contributing to reduced logistics costs.

In addition, the high-speed railway will create a premise and driving force for the development of the railway industry and supporting industries, promote sustainable, modern, and environmentally friendly transport modes, help reduce traffic accidents and environmental pollution, respond to climate change, and ensure national defense and security.

The Politburo agreed to seek the opinion of the Party Central Committee on the investment policy for the high-speed railway on the North-South axis before the Government presents it to the National Assembly at the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly.
