The Apple iPhone 16: Unprecedented Demand with 42,960 Orders in Just 90 Minutes.

The highly-anticipated iPhone 16 series went up for pre-order at midnight on September 20th, with Apple’s online store and authorized dealers offering the new phones. Eager customers could receive their devices as early as September 27th.

However, just minutes into the sale, many stores reported running out of certain colors or delaying deliveries until October.

Mr. Minh from Dong Da district shared his experience, knowing that iPhone pre-orders usually sell out very quickly, especially the models predicted to appeal to buyers. He successfully ordered an iPhone 16 Pro Max 256 GB in Titan Desert color from Apple’s official store on Shopee. “But just a few minutes later, when I tried to order another one, the system showed that only the black version was available, even though it had only been on sale for 10 minutes,” Mr. Minh said.

Mr. Dang Dinh Thinh Hung from Ba Dinh district missed out on the first batch of iPhone 16 pre-orders. He said, “I didn’t expect the phones to sell out so quickly. Just 20 minutes after the sale started, I tried to order the iPhone 16 Pro Max 256 GB in Titan Desert color, but the website of the Apple-authorized store showed that it was sold out or displayed an access error.”

At some Apple-authorized dealers, there was a high demand for the iPhone 16 on the first day of pre-orders. Specifically, The Gioi Di Dong, a popular electronics store chain, stopped taking pre-orders for the iPhone 16 Pro Max 256 GB in Titan Desert and White colors just 20 minutes after the sale started. Customers who wanted these models had to wait for the second batch, which would be available on September 27th. However, other models were still available for pre-order.

After 90 minutes of taking pre-orders, the system showed that there were 42,960 customers who had placed orders, with 10,879 of them paying a deposit for the iPhone 16 series.

Hoang Ha Mobile, another authorized dealer, also reported receiving over 6,500 pre-orders within the first 10 minutes, while Viettel store recorded more than 37,000 pre-orders in just 40 minutes.

This year, the distributors of the new iPhone models offered various promotions, such as trade-in programs, discounts for non-cash payments, and partnerships with financial institutions.

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Khue, a representative of Viettel Store, “This year, the iPhone 16 Pro Max in Titan Desert color has attracted special attention from customers due to its new color option and powerful specifications.”

“The iPhone 16 Plus will be a worthy successor, incorporating the best features from previous generations while adding subtle improvements. It offers a large enough display and a lightweight design, along with the A18 chip, catering to users who need a powerful device. Besides the iPhone 16 Pro Max, the iPhone 16 Plus is also an extremely sophisticated and economical choice,” he added.

CellphoneS, a well-known mobile phone retailer in Vietnam, also shared its insights on the market response to the iPhone 16 series. They found that for the Base/Plus models, 128GB remained the most popular storage option among regular customers who prioritized a lower price. However, there was a significant increase in interest in the 256GB version (20%).

For the iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max models, the majority of customers (76.77%) opted for the 256GB storage option, indicating a preference for higher specifications to meet their professional and entertainment needs.

The 1TB version accounted for only 4% of the interest, possibly due to its high price or the fact that most customers’ storage needs could be met by the 256GB and 512GB options.

In terms of color preference, for the Base/Plus models, the Blue color was the most popular, chosen by 4-50% of customers. As for the Pro/Pro Max models, the new Titan Desert color was the favorite, preferred by over 70% of interested customers.

In Vietnam, the iPhone 16 series starts at 23 million VND for the 128GB Base model, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max ranges from 35 million VND for the 256GB version to 47 million VND for the 1TB option.

The iPhone 16 series was officially unveiled on September 9th (early morning of September 10th in Hanoi), featuring designs and specifications that aligned with the leaks and rumors circulating before the event. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models offer a refreshed camera design, a new Action button replacing the volume rocker, and a upgraded main camera with a 48-megapixel sensor.

The Pro models boast slightly larger displays, a higher-resolution ultra-wide camera, and a new shutter button. All four models are powered by Apple’s latest chips: the A18 for the standard iPhone 16 and the A18 Pro for the iPhone 16 Pro models.
