Deputy Prime Ministers Tran Hong Ha, Le Thanh Long, and Ho Duc Phoc; leaders of ministries, sectors, and central agencies; and leaders of enterprises, including Vin Group, Hoa Phat, Thaco, KN Holdings, Sun, T&T, Geleximco, Minh Phu, Masan, Sovico, TH, and Refrigeration Electrical Engineering (REE), were also present at the conference.
In his opening remarks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that since the beginning of the term, the Government has had numerous meetings with domestic and foreign businesses, especially during the post-COVID-19 economic and social recovery and development phase. However, this is the first meeting organized on a specific topic, and the agencies will continue to research and advise on organizing subsequent thematic conferences.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the conference demonstrates the Party and State leaders’ interest in private enterprises and the private economic sector. The resolutions of the 12th Party Congress, the 10th Plenum of the 12th Party Central Committee, and the 13th Party Congress all emphasized that the private economic sector is “an important driving force of the economy.”
According to reports, the private sector currently contributes 45% of GDP, 40% of total social investment capital, 85% of total employment, 35% of imports, and 25% of exports. Vietnam now has private groups that have expanded regionally and globally.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses made positive and effective contributions to help the entire nation overcome the pandemic, control the disease, and quickly return the country to its normal state.
In the context of the pandemic, fierce strategic competition, conflicts in many places, and disruptions in supply and production chains affecting the global and Vietnamese economies, enterprises have affirmed their role in socio-economic recovery and development. Currently, Vietnam’s GDP ranks 34th in the world, and the country has never had such a large scale, potential, position, and international prestige as it does today.
This achievement is a result of the great efforts of the entire population under the leadership of the Party and the management of the State, with significant contributions from enterprises, including the private sector.
The Prime Minister also stated that he strongly felt the participation of enterprises in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and floods, such as Super Storm Yagi. Vietnam is one of the five countries most affected by climate change, and the enterprises have played a crucial role in promoting the spirit of mutual affection and national and ethnic solidarity.
However, we still face many challenges, and our economy’s scale remains modest, with a relatively low per capita income.
As we prepare to summarize 40 years of renewal and the country is in a transitional phase, the Prime Minister hopes that enterprises, especially those that have achieved success, will continue to promote their patriotism, love for the people, national spirit, ethnic solidarity, unity, self-reliance, and self-strengthening. He also hopes that they will draw upon our historical traditions and cultural heritage as a foundation for the country to work together, win together, benefit together, and develop together, fulfilling their roles and overcoming difficulties and challenges to contribute to the nation’s development.

The Prime Minister underscored the view that “resources come from thinking and vision, motivation comes from innovation, and strength comes from the people and businesses.”
According to the Prime Minister, we must achieve breakthroughs and make strides in the next phase to bring the country into a new era as we approach the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and look forward to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the State.
The Prime Minister informed that the 10th Plenum of the Central Committee recently discussed orientations for breakthrough development in the coming period, including institutional breakthroughs, renewing old growth drivers and promoting new ones based on the application of science, technology, and innovation, constructing strategic infrastructure projects that symbolize the country’s development, such as the high-speed railway on the North-South axis, implementing social security programs such as eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide by 2025 and striving for no poor households by 2030, and deploying programs and projects to respond to climate change, such as population rearrangement and relocation in areas prone to flash floods and landslides, responding to salinity intrusion, subsidence, and erosion in the Mekong Delta…
The Prime Minister asserted that the country is experiencing a new development momentum, and private enterprises have a vision and mission to contribute to the nation’s development. They continue to pioneer innovation and implement strategic breakthroughs, including building laws and perfecting the socialist-oriented market economic institution, to advance together with the country and the nation toward rapid and sustainable development.
Sure, I can assist you with that.
