The event, organized by the An Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with Ca Mau Petroleum Fertilizer Joint Stock Company (Ca Mau Fertilizer), brought together numerous delegates and businesses. The conference aimed to showcase the province’s fruit tree products’ potential and strengthen connections in the production, consumption, and processing of agricultural products, thereby contributing to the enhancement of local agricultural production value.
LINKING VALUE CHAINS – CATALYST FOR DEVELOPMENT
With favorable natural conditions and fertile land, An Giang is among the provinces with a large area of fruit tree cultivation, spanning nearly 20,000 hectares, with an estimated annual fruit yield of over 350,000 tons. The primary fruit varieties include mango, banana, longan, citrus fruits (oranges, tangerines, lemons, and grapefruit), durian, and jackfruit.
However, An Giang also faces challenges in large-scale production development. Small-scale and scattered production, along with the lack of sufficiently large specialized farming areas to meet export standards, and the overuse of pesticides in some regions due to the absence of efficient farming techniques and solutions, have impacted product quality and made it challenging to meet the requirements of international markets.
To address these challenges, the conference, “Linking and Promoting the Consumption of An Giang Province’s Fruit Trees in 2024,” focused on providing support for high-quality and high-yield fruit tree farming solutions, seeking businesses that supply quality inputs and outputs for products, and fostering linkages among key components in the agricultural value chain.
During the conference, Mr. Lam Van Thong, Deputy Director of New Products at Ca Mau Fertilizer, introduced and shared the effectiveness of demonstration models on various fruit trees. The results showed that using Ca Mau Fertilizer’s farming solutions led to an average increase in red-fleshed jackfruit yield by 14.3% and mango by 12.2% compared to traditional farming methods. Additionally, Ca Mau Fertilizer’s representative affirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the construction of an increasingly efficient agricultural value chain, helping farmers improve their production capacity, optimize costs, increase income, and develop family economics.
FERTILIZER BRAND BONDS WITH AN GIANG FARMERS
Ca Mau Fertilizer has long established itself as a trusted partner of farmers. With an extensive distribution system, especially in the Mekong Delta, Ca Mau Fertilizer provides approximately 500,000 tons of urea, 60,000 – 100,000 tons of NPK, and premium organic fertilizers imported from Europe, including Belgium and the Netherlands, which are well-suited for fruit trees.
The NPK Ca Mau product is manufactured using Polyphosphate technology from Spain, and functional urea products such as N46.Plus, biological urea supplemented with Bacillus microorganisms, and N. Humate TE with humic acid not only enhance nutrient absorption but also improve soil quality and increase crop yields.
In addition, Ca Mau Fertilizer offers technical consulting programs and provides nutritional solutions for various crops through online channels such as their website (pvcfc.com.vn), Facebook page (Ca Mau Fertilizer), and direct interactions at farmer workshops.
Farmer Le Huu Thong from An Giang province shared that his family has 5 hectares of land that was previously used for rice cultivation but has been converted to longan farming for the past five years. Throughout this transition, Mr. Thong has consistently chosen Ca Mau Fertilizer products due to his trust in the company’s reputation. Thanks to careful tending and appropriate fertilization, Mr. Thong’s longan orchard consistently achieves high yields, with longan prices ranging from 70,000 to 80,000 VND per kg, earning him approximately 700 million VND per crop.
Beyond its role as a “nurturer” of Vietnamese agriculture through superior quality products, the company also stands out for its dedication and responsibility to the community. As a partner in organizing this conference, Ca Mau Fertilizer once again demonstrates its leadership in promoting sustainable agricultural development and improving the livelihoods of farmers.
