Recently, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hau Giang Province, Nguyen Van Hoa, chaired a meeting to report on the implementation of the project “Urban Expansion and Upgrade of Vietnam – Vi Thanh City Sub-project,” as reported by Hau Giang Newspaper.
According to Vi Thanh City People’s Committee, the project has a total investment of over VND 1,015 billion. The implementation period is from 2018 to June 28, 2024. The project scale includes 34 packages that were implemented, consisting of 6 construction packages and 28 consulting packages.
So far, the total value implemented is VND 873 billion 394 million/VND 949 billion 403 million, reaching 91.9% compared to the total project (excluding contingency capital); disbursement of the whole project is VND 832 billion 160 million/VND 949 billion 403 million, reaching 87.6% of the total project.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, said that to ensure the project’s completion without violating any legal regulations, including those of the agreement, it is assigned to Vi Thanh City to carefully review the contents signed in the agreement. In addition, review the payment time, termination of the agreement, and the time to continue payment after the agreement ends (after June 28, 2024), and other stipulated contents. Refer to other provinces for uniform implementation.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee added: Up to now, the project has ended because the agreement has ended, including the investment policy for the project implementation until June 28, 2024. Based on the policy, the agreement, and related issues, the basis for proposing the Provincial People’s Committee to cut the unimplemented volume and at the same time determine the cause to serve as a basis for the Provincial People’s Committee’s consideration.
Assign the Department of Planning and Investment to advise the Provincial People’s Committee based on the report of the People’s Committee of Vi Thanh City. In addition, the People’s Committee of Vi Thanh City will chair and invite the members of the Steering Committee, related departments and branches to organize a meeting to provide dossiers, comments, synthesize and report to the Provincial People’s Committee, and officially propose answers to the contents and requirements of the World Bank…
The project “Urban Expansion and Upgrade of Vietnam – Vi Thanh City Sub-project,” Hau Giang Province, has a total investment of about VND 1,015,466 million, of which ODA loan capital is about VND 570,000 million, counter-capital is about VND 445,466 million, and the project implementation period is from 2018 – June 28, 2024.
In 2019, Vi Thanh City was recognized as a class 2 urban area
The project has 6 construction packages. According to the report of the People’s Committee of Vi Thanh City at the end of last year, according to Construction Newspaper, the package of constructing Nguyen Hue extended road has been completed and put into operation (value of VND 45.9 billion).
The package of expanding Road 1/5 reached 93.44%; the packages of Upgrading Lia 1, Lia 3 reached 85.16%; Lia 2, Lia 7 reached 91.47%; Renovating Cai Nhuc Canal and building Tam Giác Lake have a volume of 84.18%, Renovating Canal 62 reached 58.34%.
Vi Thanh City, belonging to Hau Giang Province, was upgraded from Vi Thanh Town in 2010. Before 1991, the provincial capital of Hau Giang was located in Can Tho City. When Can Tho City was separated under the central government, the provincial capital was moved to Vi Thanh Town. On July 1, 1999, Decree No. 45/1999/ND-CP was issued to establish Vi Thanh Town.
In 2019, Vi Thanh City was recognized as a class 2 urban area.
In the first six months of 2024, Hau Giang’s economic growth was quite high. The economic growth rate (GRDP) in the first six months of 2024 reached 8.04%, ranking second in the Mekong Delta region and among the highest in the country.
The economic structure shifted in the right direction, with the industry-construction sector (sector 2) increasing by 39.47%. Per capita income reached VND 87.45 million, up 131.89% over the same period.
The disbursement of public investment capital was accelerated to ensure focus and suitability with the implementation capacity; inspection, supervision, and urging of contractors and consultants to speed up the progress of projects and works.
