The Long Thanh International Airport Project is the largest airport project in Vietnam to date and is of particular importance to the socio-economic development of the Southeast region and the country.
According to the Government Newspaper , from February 2024 (the last time the Prime Minister visited the construction site) to now, just seven months later, many items and constructions have achieved large volumes of construction.

The Prime Minister emphasized that we have enough basis to shorten the progress and basically complete the project by December 31, 2025, because we have become more mature and have more experience in implementing large infrastructure projects, the procedures have been basically completed, especially the site clearance has been basically completed, and the manpower and machinery on the site are relatively adequate.

The project was approved in principle by the National Assembly in 2015 with the goal of building Long Thanh Airport into an important international airport, the largest in Vietnam, with an area of over 5,000 hectares, also the largest in Vietnam.
With an operating capacity of 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo per year, the airport will apply advanced and modern technologies in management and operation.
