Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh was delighted to see the positive development of the Vietnam-Denmark Comprehensive Partnership (established in 2013), including trade and investment. Notably, the two countries issued a Joint Statement on establishing the Vietnam-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership Framework (November 2023), providing new momentum to further strengthen bilateral relations in all areas towards green and sustainable development.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh appreciated the strengths of A.P. Moller and Maersk in capital, technology, and advanced management, as well as their investment activities in Vietnam since the 1990s, which have contributed to the development of the maritime industry and the Vietnamese economy.

The Prime Minister also commended Maersk and APM Terminals’ vision of building green and smart ports and expressed Vietnam’s readiness to facilitate foreign investors in logistics projects.

With over 3,200 km of coastline, Vietnam is among the top 20 economies with the largest international trade volume. The country is actively developing its transport infrastructure, including maritime transport and the vessel fleet, to reduce high logistics costs, enhance the competitiveness of goods, and boost the economy.

The Prime Minister welcomed and encouraged the group’s plan to expand its investment in Vietnam in developing a system of green and intelligent seaports, logistics services, and green maritime transportation.

Based on harmonious interests and shared risks, the Prime Minister proposed that the group consider participating in specific projects that Vietnam is calling for investment, such as Lien Chieu Port (Da Nang), Can Gio International Port (Ho Chi Minh City), and some seaports in the North, Central, and Southwest regions.

The Prime Minister also suggested that the group invest in other fields such as digital transformation, green transition, and circular economy. He further requested their sharing of experience in port management and operation, policy advice, and support for Vietnam to access international financial resources for transport infrastructure development, including seaports, airports, high-speed railways, and urban railways.

Mr. Robert Maersk Uggla also highly valued the Vietnamese Government’s efforts in improving the business environment, facilitating foreign investors, and promoting digital and green transformation towards sustainable development goals and Vietnam’s commitments at COP26.

Mr. Robert Maersk stated that the group sees great potential and opportunities in Vietnam and wishes to contribute more to the country’s development.

He provided updates on the group’s activities and achievements in cooperation with partners in Vietnam, such as Samsung and Hateco Group, as well as Maersk and APMT’s strategic transformation in Vietnam with a vision for the next hundred years.

He expressed his interest in exploring investment opportunities to build large, modern deep-sea container ports and strategic logistics projects in Vietnam.
