The Peninsula of Reclamation: Envisioning a Revitalized Dong Da Lake

The plans for the redevelopment of Hanoi's Dong Da District include reporting to the city and proposing the reclamation of approximately 3/4 of the peninsula's area, roughly 4,200 square meters. This reclaimed area will be transformed into a public space, with the district then undertaking a comprehensive refurbishment of the surrounding landscape to create a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing environment.

Vice Chairman of Dong Da District People’s Committee, Mr. Trinh Huu Tuan, shared that starting in July, the Ho Hoang Cau area will be fenced off to facilitate a comprehensive infrastructure and urban landscape improvement project with a total investment of over VND 297 billion.

Regarding the Ho Hoang Cau peninsula, Mr. Tuan mentioned that Ha Thuy Company is currently leasing over 5,600 square meters of land from the city. The company has a 50-year lease that commenced in 2010.

Mr. Trinh Huu Tuan stated that the district will report to the city authorities and plans to reclaim approximately three-quarters of the peninsula’s area (around 4,200 square meters) for public use. Subsequently, the district will carry out a comprehensive landscape improvement project in the reclaimed area.

Previously, the Hanoi People’s Committee instructed the Dong Da District People’s Committee to inspect and address media reports regarding the reclamation of 6,500 square meters of Ho Hoang Cau Lake, with a report on the implementation to be submitted to the Hanoi People’s Committee before September 30, 2024.
