The Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum (HEF) 2024 officially opened its plenary session this morning, September 25. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Phan Van Mai, along with leaders of ministries, sectors, Ho Chi Minh City, and delegates from Vietnam and abroad attended the conference.

In his opening remarks, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen stated that the presence of the Prime Minister, who is also the Chairman of the Southeast Region Council and the Steering Committee for the implementation of Resolution 98 on experimental mechanisms and policies for Ho Chi Minh City, sends a strong message and demonstrates a determination to take action, helping the country’s economic locomotive overcome obstacles and make breakthroughs in the coming time.

As a dynamic and creative center for economics, finance, trade, culture, education, science, and technology, Ho Chi Minh City has made significant contributions to the country’s overall achievements. The city now faces the urgent task of enhancing the quality and standard of living for its residents while building a civilized, modern, and compassionate city.

Resolution 31 has set out specific and ambitious goals for Ho Chi Minh City, aiming for it to become an industrially-oriented modern city by 2030 and a developed industrial city by 2045, on par with other economies in the region and aspiring for a global reach.

“To achieve these strategic tasks and goals, Ho Chi Minh City is focusing on comprehensive green transformation as its central task, industrial transformation as its driving force, digital transformation as its breakthrough, and cooperative development as its essential and inevitable mission,” affirmed Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen.

At this forum, the City Party Secretary shared that the city would listen to and take on board the opinions, experiences, and suggestions of domestic and international delegates. He also committed to taking action in each specific field and in the short, medium, and long term.

“We will seriously consider and effectively implement the direct guidance of the Prime Minister at the activities of this forum,” said Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen.

At the plenary session of the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum this morning, delegates discussed dominant trends in industrial transformation globally, the ecosystem of governance and policies to promote industrial transformation, Ho Chi Minh City’s industrial transformation strategy in the context of regional, regional, and international connectivity, and new technology trends.
