Lò Lu Street in Thu Duc City is in a severe state of disrepair, with countless potholes and cracks making it difficult for vehicles to navigate. As seen in the images, the intersection of Lo Lu and La Xuan Oai Streets is particularly bad, with the road surface covered in craters. The situation is even more hazardous after the rain, as the area becomes waterlogged, creating a messy and accident-prone environment.

Drivers on Lo Lu Street are forced to slow down, and near Cau Lap, there are numerous depressions on the road, creating potential hazards. Local resident, Mr. Nguyen Cong Dinh, expresses his frustration with the road’s deteriorating condition over time, with the appearance of more and more potholes and larger craters.

Multiple Roads in Thu Duc City Are in Disrepair

Many roads in the area, such as Le Van Viet, La Xuan Oai, Nguyen Duy Trinh, Do Xuan Hop, and Lo Lu, have not been widened and only measure around 7-8 meters in width. With dense populations and high vehicle traffic, these roads often experience congestion and bottlenecks. Some sections have even become accident hotspots that need attention.

“Everyone who lives here is fed up with this stretch of road,” says Mr. Dinh, describing the frustration of those who live nearby. “Those who live right by the road have an even harder time, as mud and water are splashed onto their homes whenever a large vehicle hits a pothole. We’ve tried filling the holes with sand and stones, but it’s a never-ending battle,” he adds.

According to the representative of the Thu Duc City Investment and Construction Project Management Board (the investor), Lo Lu Street is approximately 2 kilometers long, starting from La Xuan Oai Street and ending at Nguyen Xien Street. The plan is to widen Lo Lu Street to 30 meters, with a total investment of VND 755 billion.

The Lo Lu road project is divided into two sections: the first, from La Xuan Oai Street to Cau Lap, is about 1,767 meters long, and the second, from Chum Chup Bridge to Nguyen Xien Street, is about 267 meters long. Despite starting in 2020, the project has been stalled due to compensation and land clearance issues.

Currently, compensation and clearance work is being expedited, with hopes to restart the project in the fourth quarter of this year. The Technical Infrastructure Development Center of Thu Duc City has recently inspected and assessed the current status of the Lo Lu road upgrade and expansion project.

Based on their findings, the Center has requested the Thu Duc City Project Management Board and the Transportation Department to expedite the implementation of the Lo Lu road upgrade and expansion project. Additionally, the Thu Duc City Project Management Board has instructed the contractor to urgently repair the section from Chum Chup Bridge to Nguyen Xien Street to ensure safe transportation.
