Unveiling the Ultimate Showcase of Vietnamese and Thai Products

With over 30 booths, the Product Exhibition Space showcased the notable achievements of both nations. The event also served as an opportunity for businesses and local communities from each country to promote their distinctive and outstanding products.

As part of the Thailand Meetup in Da Nang, in the afternoon of September 26, at the APEC Park in Da Nang, the Department of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the Consulate General of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City, in coordination with the People’s Committee of Da Nang, organized the opening of the exhibition Display Space of Typical Vietnamese – Thai Products.

Representatives of the People’s Committee of Da Nang; Ms. Wiraka Moodhitapor, Consul General of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City, and Mr. Siriwat Pinijpanich, Vice Governor of Khonkaen Province, Thailand, along with businesses from both countries attended the event.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Da Nang, said that Da Nang was honored to be chosen by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the Consulate General of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City as the venue for the Thailand Meetup. This event is of great significance, further promoting the strategic partnership between Thailand and Vietnam and deepening the relationship between the two countries.

The event provided an opportunity for localities in Vietnam to introduce their achievements and also served as a platform for businesses from both countries to display and introduce their typical products and strengths, thereby facilitating connections and enhancing trade between the two sides.

According to the Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Da Nang, although the Display Space of Typical Vietnamese-Thai Products is not large, with over 30 booths from localities and businesses in Vietnam and Thailand, it marks a good beginning for the two sides to continue organizing more connecting events and larger-scale exhibitions in the future.

“Vietnamese people in general and Da Nang people, in particular, are very fond of Thai products. We hope that Thai localities and businesses will actively participate in international fairs and exhibitions in Vietnam, and Vietnamese businesses will also promote their products in Thailand, strengthening connections and promoting cooperation programs to bring mutual benefits to businesses on both sides,” said the leader of Da Nang.

According to the Da Nang Foreign Affairs Department, to date, Da Nang City has maintained friendly and cooperative relations with several Thai provinces, including Mukdahan, Nakhon Phanom, Phuket, and Chiang Mai. On November 16, 2022, Da Nang City signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish friendly and cooperative relations with Khonkaen Province, witnessed by the President of Vietnam and the Prime Minister of Thailand.

Currently, Thailand is one of the largest import and export markets for Da Nang businesses. In 2023, the export turnover from Da Nang to Thailand reached 6 million USD, while imports from Thailand reached 42 million USD. The main export items included finished rubber products, oil and air filters, and fishing rods. The main imports were raw materials and accessories for the textile industry, raw or synthetic rubber, chemicals, plastic pellets, pharmaceuticals, and other raw materials and accessories.

The FDI value from Thailand to Da Nang reached nearly 64 million USD, with 15 valid projects focusing on fields such as commerce, retail, manufacturing, garment production, design, construction, and information technology.

In the first half of 2024, nearly 145,000 Thai tourists visited Da Nang (accounting for 7.2% of the total international arrivals in Da Nang), ranking third in the top 10 international tourist markets for Da Nang.
