The Golden Gate Group, a Renowned F&B Giant, Introduces an Intriguing Dish: Milk Tea, Tapioca Pearl, and Corn Beef Noodle Soup. A Bewildering Combination or a Delicious Innovation?

“Inspired by the famous Taiwanese milk hot pot, Yu Tang has created a unique blend of bone broth, fresh milk, and black tea, paired with beef shank and our signature black pearls. Try our new Beef Shank Black Pearl Milk Tea Noodles for only 98,000 VND – an exclusive, one-of-a-kind dish!” The Yu Tang chain introduced this innovative dish on their Facebook fanpage.

According to customer feedback on Yu Tang’s fanpage, this intriguing dish will be available at their Hanoi locations starting September 27th. The brand promises a “twist of taste” for diners.

Within six hours of posting, Yu Tang’s new menu item introduction received over 2,800 interactions, 3,200 comments, and 1,400 shares. While some netizens eagerly invited friends to try it, many social media users were skeptical, believing that the combination of Taiwanese noodles and pearl milk tea was illogical and “stomach-aching.”

“I can’t believe someone thought of this!” commented a user on Yu Tang’s post.

“I thought tea with balut and pizza with vermicelli and shrimp paste were already too much!” exclaimed another.

Yu Tang is a brand that was launched in August 2017 by the F&B giant Golden Gate, the same company behind renowned names such as Manwah, Kichi-Kichi, Gogi House, Hutong, Isushi, and Vuvuzela.

Yu Tang marked Golden Gate’s first foray into the milk tea market. Besides milk tea, Yu Tang also offers Taiwanese street food such as noodles, dumplings, and steamed buns. After Yu Tang, Golden Gate introduced another milk tea chain, Universal Tea, in August 2023.

Prior to the Beef Shank Black Pearl Milk Tea Noodles, Vietnam’s F&B market has witnessed the rise of unusual dishes, some even deemed “culinary disasters,” that sparked debates online. Notable examples include the balut milk tea in September 2023 and the more recent scallion milk tea. Another F&B giant, Pizza 4P’s, also stirred controversy with their pizza with vermicelli and shrimp paste.
