Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Director of the Police Investigation Agency for Corruption, Economic, and Smuggling Crimes – Ministry of Public Security

According to Lieutenant General Thanh, the investigation agency has initiated legal proceedings in cases involving Phuc Son Group, Thuan An Group, and the Saigon – Dai Ninh project since the beginning of this year, and all are currently under investigation. These are all major and complex cases that are being monitored and directed by the Central Steering Committee for Corruption and Negative Behavior Prevention.

Regarding the case at Phuc Son Group, Lieutenant General Thanh shared that the C03 Bureau has prosecuted 26 defendants for five crimes, including Violation of Accounting Regulations, Violation of Bidding Regulations causing serious consequences, Bribery, and Abuse of Power while performing official duties, among others. These crimes occurred at Thang Long Real Estate Company, Phuc Son Group, and in the provinces of Quang Ngai, Vinh Phuc, and Phu Tho.

Up to now, the C03 Bureau has focused on investigating and consolidating the violations and expanding the investigation to related individuals to handle them according to the law and thoroughly recover assets.

Lieutenant General Thanh informed that the investigation agency has seized more than VND 300 billion, 2 million USD, and 1,000 gold bars in this case.

In the case of Thuan An Group, the C03 Deputy Director announced that the Ministry of Public Security had prosecuted eight defendants for five crimes, including Violation of Bidding Regulations causing serious consequences and Abuse of Power in the performance of official duties, among others.

As for the Saigon – Dai Ninh project, Lieutenant General Thanh stated that the C03 Bureau had prosecuted eight defendants and was continuing to investigate and review related individuals with the spirit of strict handling. “All three cases are very complex, but the C03 Bureau is very focused and will soon conclude the investigation”, said the C03 Deputy Director.

Regarding the case at Van Thinh Phat Group, Lieutenant General Thanh shared that the C03 Bureau had initiated legal proceedings in two cases. The first phase of the case has been brought to trial, while the second phase, related to bonds, is still in the trial process.

“If the court returns the file, the police will investigate further; otherwise, the investigation will be concluded”, added Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh.

Also, at the press conference, Colonel Nguyen Tuan Hung, Deputy Director of Security Investigation, said that in the case occurring at Cong Minh Green Tree Company, the competent authorities have just proposed to the Supreme People’s Procuracy to extend the investigation for the first time.
