BOUNTIFUL JOB OPPORTUNITIES WITH ATTRACTIVE WAGE PACKAGES

Ms. Đặng Hồng Liên, Head of Human Resources at PouYuen Vietnam Co. Ltd. in Ho Chi Minh City’s Bình Tân District, shared that after facing challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the termination of some employment contracts, the company is now back on its feet with new orders as the economy recovers.

PouYuen Vietnam is currently looking to hire 2,000 workers and has only managed to fill half of those positions so far. To meet their target, the company is seeking referrals from their existing employees and local communities.

A representative from Viettel Hanoi Branch, a subsidiary of the Vietnam Military Industry and Telecom Group (Viettel), revealed that they are also in the process of recruiting over 200 employees for four different positions: sales, customer service, telesales, and telecom bill collection. The salary range for these positions varies from 7 million to 18 million VND per month, depending on the role.

Hanoi Railway One-Member Co. Ltd. is seeking to fill more than 300 positions, including managers, deputy managers, team leaders, and staff. The salary for these roles starts at 7 million VND per month and can go up to 13 million VND, excluding bonuses and other benefits.

To secure the talent they need for their operations, businesses have had to diversify their recruitment strategies, including participating in job fairs.

In Hanoi, recent job fairs have seen an average of 3,000 vacancies offered by companies across various industries and sectors, according to Mr. Vũ Quang Thành, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Center for Employment Services.

Mr. Thành observed that there are abundant job opportunities with attractive positions available for people with different educational backgrounds, ranging from elementary and vocational certificates to college and postgraduate degrees.

Regarding salaries, most positions offer wages between 7 million and 15 million VND. However, there are also jobs that pay above 15 million VND for highly educated individuals. Additionally, there are positions that pay less than 7 million VND, catering to part-time workers. This diverse range of opportunities allows job seekers, including students and those with specific needs, to find suitable employment.

According to Mr. Thành, the last quarter of the year, especially around the holidays, tends to see an increase in business activities as companies rush to complete their annual plans and handle additional orders. This trend has already been observed in Hanoi, with a notable rise in hiring activities since August and September.

However, recruitment challenges are inevitable, especially in the current context. One reason is that employees tend to stay with their current companies unless faced with unavoidable circumstances, such as company closures or personal dissatisfaction with their work environment.

“It’s a natural cycle in the job market,” Mr. Thành explained, “when one business closes, its employees will move on to apply for positions in other companies.”

SECTORS WITH HIGH RECRUITMENT DEMAND

Looking ahead, the Hanoi Center for Employment Services predicts that the sectors with the highest recruitment demand towards the end of 2024 will be services and trade, including supermarkets, restaurants, shopping malls, and logistics companies. Additionally, the manufacturing, information technology, and other sectors are also expected to have significant recruitment needs.

“Based on the needs of businesses, we will collaborate with relevant units to organize specialized and mobile job fairs to meet the labor demands of companies in Hanoi,” said Mr. Vũ Quang Thành, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Center for Employment Services. “At the same time, we aim to support job seekers in finding suitable positions with competitive salaries.”

In Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Phạm Văn Cẩn, Deputy Director of the Center for Human Resources Forecast and Labor Market Information, shared that the city’s workforce is estimated to exceed 5.1 million in 2024, marking a 5.61% increase compared to 2023.

From January to September 2024, the Center conducted surveys involving over 52,000 businesses, resulting in more than 230,000 job openings. The majority of these vacancies, approximately 70.12%, were in the trade and services sector, while the industry and construction sector accounted for 29.48%. The remaining positions were in the fields of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries.

Several economic sectors have shown high recruitment demand throughout the year, including manufacturing, wholesale and retail, automotive repair, professional activities, real estate, financial services, insurance, information and communications, and more.

Based on the supply and demand dynamics observed in the first three quarters, the Center forecasts a need for over 83,000 workers in Ho Chi Minh City during the fourth quarter of 2024.

The job market in the final months of 2024 will continue to focus on hiring for key industrial sectors and primary service industries.

To enhance their employability, job seekers are advised to proactively develop their professional knowledge, skill sets, and soft skills relevant to their desired positions. Additionally, cultivating a strong work ethic and a professional attitude is essential.

Furthermore, to stay competitive in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and globalization, individuals should invest in improving their foreign language proficiency, information technology skills, and adaptability to new technologies. It is also crucial to exercise caution when seeking employment opportunities to avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
