The Ban Gioc-De Tian Landscape Area is a cross-border cooperation zone spanning 400 hectares, with 200 hectares on each side.
Last September, in accordance with the Agreement on Cooperation for Protection and Tourism Development of Ban Gioc-De Tian Waterfall, authorities in Vietnam and China diligently worked to finalize the necessary steps for the pilot operation of the Landscape Area. During the development process, both sides maintained close coordination and adhered to the stipulated regulations. They also continued to collaborate in upholding the three legal documents on the land border between Vietnam and China, while effectively maintaining border and territorial security.
As quoted by VNA, Vice Chairman of the Cao Bang provincial People’s Committee Trinh Truong Huy, at the pilot operation ceremony, described the cooperation model for protecting tourism resources at Ban Gioc Waterfall (Vietnam) and De Tian Waterfall (China) as a novel approach without precedent. It also marks the first cross-border tourism area between Vietnam and China.
During the pilot operation period from Sep 15, 2023, to the present, approximately 950 groups, comprising around 12,000 individuals, have crossed the border to visit and tour the area.
In practice, clearance procedures were efficiently handled by the exit-entry control, customs, and quarantine forces in a flexible, scientific, and civilized manner, in compliance with regulations. This ensured a smooth process for visitors from both sides entering the Landscape Area. Moreover, the transportation of tourists was seamlessly coordinated by travel agencies in Vietnam and China, adhering to the legal provisions of both nations.
Prior to the official launch, specialized agencies under the Cao Bang provincial People’s Committee provided recommendations for the strategic placement of booths showcasing distinctive products and promoting local tourism. They also collaborated with the Trùng Khánh District People’s Committee to supervise and inspect the work of ensuring environmental sanitation and beautifying the landscape near the homes and roads within the Landscape Area. These collective efforts ensured that both sides were well-prepared for the successful official launch ceremony of the Ban Gioc (Vietnam) – De Tian (China) Landscape Area.
The Cao Bang provincial People’s Committee (Vietnam) and the People’s Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) jointly organized the Official Launch Ceremony of the Ban Gioc-De Tian Landscape Area.
